Enya’s Storms In Africa is ideal for your needs.
Three beauties:
Ready for the Storm by Dougie MacLean
Rain by Patty Griffin
Rainy Night House by Joni Mitchell
I was just watching some Gordon Lightfoot videos on YouTube, so these are fresh in my mind:
Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald – particularly appropriate for November
Gino Vannelli’s Storm At Sunup
Bodacious song and album
One of my favorite songs by .38 Special–Chain Lightning
Call Me the Breeze - Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Ice Storm, Big Gust & You - Tilly & The Wall
“Stormy Sky” by The Kinks
Wow, what a response! I had no idea there were so many weather related songs!
I’ll try to make some comments
NDP- riders on the storm is definitely a contender.
Grammanaut, not only is it ok to like the Scorpions, I’ve seen them in concert. Of course I was all of 17 or so…And that Cure song really reminds me of another band, but I can’t think of who.
percypercy Sting is a great choice.
BoyoJim, CCR and Temptations are good ones
** feppytweed** RHCP is good, but not sure if the lyrics are appropriate. Same goes for you, Nzinga
spoke- My all time favorite Christmas carol is “Baby it’s Cold Outside”, the Doris Day/Bing Crosby version. That being said, “I Can See Clearly Now” is definitely a contender, as is “Call me the Breeze.”
Gordon Lightfoot evokes such an interesting response in me, ** Strernvogel** On one hand it reminds of happy days when I was really little, on the other hand, I might just have to get drunk and drive off a pier.
I remembered an OK Go song, “let it rain” which I’ve always liked.
As to the classical options, I liked them, but I need something more ‘pop’ sounding, easily identifiable.
With all the good selections you guys have come up with already, I think I’m going to start adding them to my business emails as a sig, change them all the time. What the hell, I’m the boss. So what if I’m annoying?
Blondebear Sunny Afternoon, too. Kinks are a fave-never noticed how much OK Go sounds similar to the Kinks.
:smack: I was wondering why that didn’t look right. I mean, Duran Duran did do Hold Back The Rain, right?
Only Duran Duran isn’t spelled D-e-v-o. Processor/peripheral disconnect.
If Storm in a Teacup is a little too racy, RHCP has their hit Snow (Hey Oh).
One of my favorites:
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Texas Flood
Written by - L.C. Davis & J.W. Scott
From - Texas Flood
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby
Lord and I can't get a single sound
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin'
Man it's about to drive poor me insane
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well back home I know floods and tornadoes
Baby the sun shines every day
How has nobody yet mentioned Riding the Storm Out by REO Speedwagon?
A few non-Lightfoot selections I’ve remembered since my last post:
A Mighty Wind (from the movie of the same name)
I Love a Rainy Night – Eddie Rabbitt
Storm Front – Billy Joel
If someone else mentioned any of these, I missed it.
The Storm - Bloodline
Couldn’t Stand the Weather - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Hurricane - Neil Young
You stole my first thought.
Also:
“Beautiful Rain,” Ladysmith Black Mambazo
“Africa,” Toto
By the way, fisha, you will be securing permissions from and paying any appropriate fees to the artists whose music you wish to use to promote your company, yes?
Actually, if I am going to use it on the website, yes. I’m trying to be reputable, at least every once in a while.
OK, cool, carry on.
