Storm songs?

This is not possible. Nobody’s mentioned

Love, Reign O’er Me by The Who?

and

All Along the Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix’s cover being far superior to Bob Dylan’s.

Big seconds for Windy (The Association) and Storms in Africa, by Enya, with emphasis on Part II which has lots more thunder/rainfall noises.

Guns & Roses’ Civil War ends with thunder and rain, if memory serves.

Like the Weather - 10,000 Maniacs

What a cold and a rainy day
Where on earth is the sun hid away?

fisha, I’m with you on “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” though I think maybe I like the Ray Charles version best. There was a pretty good bit featuring this song in the movie Elf.

Are there copyright/usage issues with using these songs on a website?

I nominate The Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

Storm Windows - John Prine
Southern Rain - Cowboy Junkies
Wind and Rain - any number of artists… I’m partial to Gillian Welch or Jerry Garcia/David Grisman.
Hickory Wind - Gram Parsons
Wicked Rain - Los Lobos
Fistful of rain - Warren Zevon
Cold Rain and Snow - Grateful Dead

Tupelo, by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (about a storm & Elvis’ birth & the End of The World, loosely based on Hooker’s Tupelo Blues) off [url=The Firstborn Is Dead - Wikipedia]The Firstborn is Dead[/ul]
starts with storm noises, then a driving heart/train beat, with it’s lovely refrain of “Black Rain Come Down!” and imagery like “You can say these streets are rivers, you can call these rivers streets”.

If you need something really head-banging there’s always Stormbringer by Deep Purple

I remember a whole album called something like One Stormy Night. Can’t remember who did it; combination of instrumental music and rainy sound effects. Very nice as background for an extended romantic interlude.

ETA: Google is our friend. Apparently it was put out by the Mystic Moods Orchestra.

Nice find! I had wanted to suggest that one myself. We had a tape of that to go to sleep by. We led into the storm sounds with The Doors’ Riders on the Storm so there was approaching half an hour of soothing rain and thunder to drift off to.

Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season, Jimmy Buffet

Cannibals , Mark Knopler

PLEASE tell me you aren’t going to have this music play automatically on the site? There are only a few things that a website can do that will make me instantly close the window and put it on my “never ever ever ever revisit” list, and one of them is having music start up all by itself.

Mr. Blue Sky - Electric Light Orchestra

No, I am not going to. I agree that instamusic is highly annoying, especially when it comes blaring out.

Ok whew. Carry on!

The Cloudburst movement from Ferde Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite has fantastic musical storm sound effects. As kids, we used to like to act out what it would be like to be caught in such a storm.

Definitely worth your consideration!
