Straight, Cisgendered, White Male here and I truly don't understand Alt Right and Trump supporters.

But what’s the alternative?

You ask: “Why are these people so loyal to a criminal sociopath who would toss them in the garbage for five dollars?” And my answer is: because they think it’s either him, or a garbage-tosser who doesn’t even need the five dollars of coaxing first. Yeah, he’s an opportunist who could throw them under a bus; but if the alternative is already out to throw them under a bus, then cue up the ‘Cyrus’ talk.

Which Democratic candidate in past and present elections has advocated for throwing them in the garbage?

I would understand if they were in a fight for their existence against liberal policies that advocate for their wholesale destruction. That they insist without evidence that those are the stakes, is what’s so twisted and absurd.

“Deplorables”. “illegals”.

They believe the democratic candidate will believe that only the parts of America who can claim victimhood deserve help or protection. If you’re a poor college student trying to get into college, and you have a mediocre SAT score, if you’re white, you obviously didn’t take advantage of all your privilege. Rejected. If you’re one of the victim races, you obviously struggled against adversity to get that mediocre score. Accepted.

They notice that while their (white/male/cis) ancestors faced the draft, and some of them faced gunfire in 4 major wars, newcomers who’s parents snuck in illegally and happened to give birth to them here get all the same rights and privileges.

And for other reasons, the “white race” is dying out. The primary causes are that inflated prices on the essentials for living (housing/medical care/education) and flat salaries in most fields mean that younger white people aren’t having children. Also, because white women have far fewer children per mother.

All this combined means they feel the government doesn’t care about them (certainly, the media doesn’t seem to), only people who can claim to be the biggest victims. So they voted for a con man who says the right things instead of a competent individual who doesn’t say those things.

Note that paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 are based on facts. I am not saying the ultimate conclusion is correct, however.

Shucks, let’s get the current candidates on stage and ask them to raise their hands as to whether crossing the border without documentation should be a criminal offense; we can pair it with asking for a show of hands about whether they plan to provide coverage to illegal aliens. We can then show that footage to some folks who are on the fence about Trump, folks who worry he might ruin stuff, and then watch their eyes go wide in horror as they gasp about Liberal Policies and Destruction and Garbage and so on like you were just saying.

Would that qualify?

(Disclaimer: you can count me among those folks, since I could be convinced to vote for Trump upon seeing hands fly up like that.)

Fear of the Great Replacement is very very real. People are convinced they are voting to save the existence of the White Race, there is nothing they won’t sacrifice to that end.

Great. That’s a conversation starter. Although I see it heading into an immigration debate and I’ve already started a thread about that a month or two ago. So let’s not re-litigate what rational immigration policies would look like.

So, if I understand your concerns, you see an existential threat to yourself (and others) due to immigrants crossing into the US illegally. Additionally, you believe that Democrats do not have a viable immigration policy due to the fact that Democratic party candidates raised their hands when asked: “Raise your hand if your government plan would provide [Healthcare] coverage for undocumented immigrants.”

Is that correct?

Okay. But I’m trying to see if I can have somebody elucidate why that is something that they fear and if perhaps there is something there, beyond fear, that is worth considering.

It’s also the words. Illegal immigrants aren’t “undocumented”. They aren’t people in the United States by honest means who just don’t happen to have their papers because they didn’t fill out a form. They are here illegally and by Federal law that establishes immigration quotas, they shouldn’t be here at all. And their children, who are citizens, are basically “stolen” citizenships.

Furthermore, it is true that the people who sneak in illegally are the desparate portion of failed states to the South. When Trump said “they aren’t sending us their best”, he was unfortunately completely correct. The ‘best’ of their society don’t need to flee to mow lawns for under minimum wage. They aren’t going to be the best educated, or the safest people to be around, or the smartest, or the most athletic, or any other favorable trait.

Liberals cannot openly admit that people even have varying amounts of inherent potential because that is one step away from apologizing for racism. Thus, all people have to be the same when this is trivially obviously untrue.

Historically, white people killed and enslaved a whole bunch of people in order to carve out this very favorable tract of land. (umm, not saying it’s something they should be proud of). They bled for it and they decided that this place would be for the benefit of their children. This is what they mean when they talk in racist terms about “real” Americans - people who were in this country at least a century and were part of the violent defense of it. (err, well, nominally so. Obviously in reality this is more complex and people just assume a random white person without an accent is among that group)

I get that. They are here illegally whether they are called “illegal” or “undocumented”. Illegal immigration is a problem for most countries that share borders with nations where economic or political climates are worse by comparison. Being a legal immigrant, twice over, I can appreciate the desire to live in a better place.

But this is US law. If born here, you are automatically a citizen.

Statistically this is not true. Immigrant communities are reported to be more law abiding than generational American citizens.

The goal is to treat people the same, whether they have the same potential or not. That’s the point of a more just and humane society.

So then we must agree that the color of your skin has nothing to do with how much of a patriot you are or how large of a contribution you are willing and able to make to America.

Yeah but as pointed out above thread already, this is human nature to any race. Ask the Japanese if they would like 70 million white Caucasians immigrating into Japan. I don’t know of any racial or ethnic group that would be happy about that - but somehow it’s only considered racist if white people object to being displaced, and not if any other ethnic group says the same thing.

I’m not even white myself, just saying this is a double standard.

…in 14 words or so?

Paired with the hand-raising in response to whether it should be a crime to so cross the border, then (a) yes, in itself; but also (b) it makes me wonder what the heck else they’re in favor of: if that’s the stuff they shoot their hands up for in public, on live television, when they’re presumably thinking about looking electable, then, yeah, I find myself asking whether they’re fully on-board for open borders but each just manages to keep from saying the rest of the quiet part out loud so far.

You’re not telling me anything I didn’t already know. People aren’t exactly coy about their beliefs. Apologia for this behavior has been around for a long time.

I don’t think bush or any of the 2016 candidates elicited this response.

Maybe as was said earlier, they felt the gop was playing nice for too long.

lol the great replacement is literally the thing white nationalists use to promote ethnic cleansing

theres kind of a difference between a country just shipping 70 million people (which generally tends to be called “a declaration of war”) vs natural displacement (including due to war/danger/poverty), migration, and interracial dating

also the “white race” will only “disappear” due to race mixing if you abide by the absolutely absurd, also white supremacist notion of the one drop rule. which like a lot of people unknowingly subscribe to if theyre not otherwise white supremacists but just because someone is half black doesnt mean theyre destroying “white culture” or “the white race”

i encourage anyone who seriously considers the great replacement an allowable position to watch this video

which the paragons of "freeze peach" on the right mass reported to get the original video removed from the original channel despite it containing no offensive content

My guess is that it is statements like this:

Yeah, its our fault for observing reality. We should stop doing that so we don’t offend the people who call us snowflakes.

Sure. Tell you what. Why don’t you tell me what the personification of the antichrist is, without using any religious texts, and I’ll see if I agree with you.

I think a better reason for stopping is so you dont sound unstable to the people who otherwise might vote (D).
