I got the first straight dope book from amazon and started reading it during work and it was the best thing to cure boredom, so i ordered the other books (More of the Straight Dope, Triumph of the Straight Dope, Straight Dope Tells All, and Return of the Straight Dope). The latest release was in 1999 so I am wondering if there will be more in the future. I work as an ambulance EMT so the majority of my day is spent parked on a street corner waiting for someone to dial 911, it gives me a lot of time to find my own entertainment. I also have to work with a partner that has to fight boredom and I let him read my straight dope book and he loved the passage about why pigeons bob their heads.
This question will probably get a better response in ATMB than GQ, so I’ll move it over there. The last I heard there were still too many unsold copies of the last few books to justify a sixth anytime soon. Pehaps the best thing you can do is buy as many as you can afford and give them away as gifts. Christmas is coming up, only eleven months.
