Wow, lemme explain this first. I recently moved, away from my mother, to live with my father. This was NOT my idea, and I still hate my dad for making me do it, but taht’s another thread. Here’s the biggest problem for me, my dad, not only has no net access, but has no comp either. So, every morning when I get to school, I have to cruise the SDMB and do all my posting then, and it is slow as hell. Now, I am visiting my mom for this weekend, and I am back on my DSL!!! WOO HOOOO!!! It takes less than a second for each page to load!!
School T1??? BOO!!!
Home, consumer-level DSL??? YAY!!!

Was it fast on your mom’s DSL before? Not to burst your bubble or anything, E, but sometimes it’s just the time of day that means the SDMB is slow or fast. It’s directly tied to how many people at any given moment are trying to load threads/post replies, how big the load on the server is.
Monday through Friday, business hours, lots of folks are posting from their workplace. Afternoons are the worst–after lunch, come back to the office and read threads instead of doing any actual work. Friday night, lots of people are out doing stuff, they’re not cruising the boards.
Wait until Monday afternoon.
