IIRC, I emailed the URL of the podcast to my gmail account associated with the phone. Then I opened the email on the phone, did a long-press on the URL, and chose Copy. Then I went into Listen -> My Subscriptions -> Menu Button -> Add and pasted the URL.

I finally got this to work on my cranky computer, and I’m pleased to see that my name was pronounced correctly.
I use Zune (death to iTunes!!!) and the podcast is not in their system. Considering Dopers are smarter than the average bear you might want to get this thing into systems other than iTunes.
itunes is one of the (many) factors in deciding to buy a laptop…
… so I can avoid putting itunes on my desktop.
I’ve been hoping for a SD podcast for a while myself but I too use a Zune instead of an iPod. I’d be very happy and appreciative if you guys could get it on Zune.
I don’t know the Zune that well (I don’t think I’ve ever even seen one in the wild, only at the Microsoft Store) but wouldn’t it be possible to get the file from the link provided by Kal in post 11 of this thread, and then put the file on the Zune? Or is that too hard to do with the Zune?

Also, if you shorten the URL and go to straightdope.infoble.com you can sign up to the podcast there. Doing that, you can be emailed when a new podcast is released with a link to download it as .mp3 (or log into the site and download it there).
OK, I must be an idiot.
I use a Sanyo mp3 player. I drag my podcasts from the folder they’re downloaded to onto the Removable Disc folder. To download them to this folder, I hit the “Download” button on the website that shows the podcast.
The link in post #11 gives me a page of html stuff I cannot decipher. The Zune page seems geared only to Zunes. Is there a page somewhere that has a “download” button I can push? Are there archived podcasts? I don’t do subscriptions, and I can’t access iTunes from my work computer. Is there a techtard version of this somewhere?
Nope, it’s only available through iTunes, sorry.
You can get it through Google Reader, but you have to have gmail or another Google account.
