Who is the guy who recites the column?
Yes.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist the temptation to run with the “Who’s on first?” joke.
I’m interested in the name of the person that provides those dulcet tones for the podcast too.
Come on, y’all. The teeming millions really want to know.
Is it Dexter?
I’m betting on Dexter.
My alternate guess is a random wino on the alleyway near the Tribune building.
I’ll see what I can find out.
On a similar note, any of you drink the sponsor beer?
Just wondering.
When I lived in Colorado, it was one of my favorites! I was very surprised and pleased to hear them sponsoring you. Now that I live in California, I don’t see it any more. If I saw it, I’d drink it, though!
I’d always wanted to ask this when I became a moderator, but forgot to ask about it while I was there.
FWIW I assume it’s Ed.
Straight Dope now available on podcast
In 2009, Ed posted:
It’s been three years, so maybe someone else does it now.

I always wondered what happened to that guy after he retired from the Red Sox.

The column will be sent to you automatically each week, masterfully voice by Stan Jastrzebski.

How do you pronounce that anyway? Does it sound vaguely obscene? Is he the Master Jastrz?
There’s no Stan Jastrzebski on imdb, but there’s one on Facebook who used to work at The Tribune- his info doesn’t say anything to confirm the podcast, though. He left the Tribune before 2009.

How do you pronounce that anyway?
The way it’s spelled.
Does it sound vaguely obscene?
Most Polish names sound vaguely obscene. What is fortunate about living in an area with many Poles, besides being able to pronounce Jastrzebski, is that most Polish women are vaguely obscene.

Clearly, we need someone to compare and old podcast to a recent one, and analyze the vocals.

I think it’s the same guy.
