Was she very premature at birth? this happens with twins sometimes, but it happens less frequently now than it used to, because pregnancy problems are more manageable. If she does get pregnant with twins, make sure you have a good obstetrician, not just a general practitioner to handle to pregnancy. Also, even premature twins do a lot better now than previously thanks to advances in medicine.
Some people who were premature at birth have problems all their lives, but many do not, and if your fiance did, the chances are the problems would be obvious. They would have come up during her schooling, or they would be problems in her movement you would be able to see. The chances are nothing is wrong, even is she was premature.
yeah, you said you married to a twin. Can i ask you a question! sorry nothing personal. Did you notice any strange acts in her like not agree to have sex or sort of dizziness or loneliness !
Can you please say something about it… sorry if am pointing to your personal life…
i do consider this as well, by the way what exactly premature is? i googled out and found plenty of answers. But confused and here, what do you say about prematured twins?
Why don’t you ask her about it? The likelihood being a twin affects her life in any significant is very small. But if it does, it will be in ways specific to her. So talk to her about your concerns about her health and happiness.
“Premature” is a baby born before the usual date. The main sub-meanings:
sometimes a baby is born a little bit sooner than expected but is fine; maybe on the small side (the last trimester is mostly about the baby growing bigger, most organs are already formed by the end of the second trimester), but nothing you’d notice after a few months.
sometimes they are born early enough that there are medical complications. Nowadays the advent of incubators and other medical wonders make these cases a lot less worrisome; babies which 40 years ago would have lived for a few hours, now are highly likely to lead normal lives.
In a pregnancy of twins, there are two babies in what would normally be the space for one. Because of this, they often fall into the first group. That is, they’ll be born after seven or eight months instead of nine, but with no more complications than being a bit smaller than other newborns.
ETA: RiCu, there have been some, uhm, strange questions around GQ lately.
While quite a few cultures have myths and superstitions around twins, the fact is that twins are normal individual people. There are no health problems linked to being a twin whether identical or non-identical.
Twins are slightly more likely to have twins themselves. They are somewhat more likely to be born early and small, although this is less of a concern than it used to be with modern medicine.
I think he was referring to the twin bond potentially being stronger than the spousal bond.
I wouldn’t go anywhere close to calling that a relationship time bomb, but if the sisters in question are very close, then it will be an extant facet of his relationship, for good, bad, or whatever.
You’re marrying someone you don’t even know at all. This is completely idiotic, regardless of how “normal” it is in your culture.
And yes, there will certainly be an “understanding gap” between you and your new wife that will not be present between her and her twin. This is because they are actually acquainted with each other, whereas you are a complete stranger.
Consider getting to know a person before committing the entire rest of your life to sharing a home and raising children with them. I know this may sound ethnocentric of me, but all cultural practices are not equally good. The one where you marry a stranger who could turn out to be anyone is not one that should be preserved.
Kiranlove, in a culture where arranged marriages are common, aren’t there wise men or matchmakers who specialize in giving advice to young people about both the relationship and biologic aspects of marriage?
I think the underlying context of this thread is that the OP is hoping for a threesome (with twins!). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you’re probably not going to get there. No twin swapping, either.
Where did you get the idea that twins are lonely, dizzy or lack sex drive? That’s crazy. Shouldn’t you be a little more concerned about their telepathic abilities?
Well, maybe we’re talking about Siamese twins. That could present problems, but mostly of a social nature. In that case, you’d need to get along with her twin & her twin’s fiance really well.
Of course, conjoined twins raise some issues, but history shows that this can be worked out. Both Chang and Eng Bunker had solid marriages and each fathered a brood of children, so it can be done. No details on how they did it, though, being rather on the private side all four parties involved.
