One recent change I really appreicate is the ability to set our options to seeing 200 posts per page in a thread. This is great. Thank you **TubaDiva ** again. I thought I would mention this in case posters were not aware of it yet.
Go to Edit Option under Quick Links - look for the Thread Display Options section - then Number of Posts to Show Per Page - select Show 200 posts per page.

Ooh. I had no idea about this feature. Thanks.

Aye. My fiefdom for a Sports forum.
I’ll second being unaware of this and the gratitude to you for bringing it up!

Cool, maybe if enough people chime in about the Sports forum, they will consider it seriously. I believe it is fairly easy to add a forum, I think the hold up is a strong resistance to adding forums at all.
As to the ability to show 200 posts per thread, you are most welcome and I am happy that other posters are finding it useful. I had a feeling that few knew about it yet.
I would like to see a Sports and Games forum too. I don’t think it should only be about sports, I don’t know if there’s enough sports threads to really float it’s own forum but together with game threads it should work.
Put me on the list for a Sports and Games forum. I can’t see a real downside, and it would probably reduce the number of people who roll into sports threads to talk about how dumb sports are.
A sports forum would be nice. I hesitated to post an offseason baseball thread because I’ve read too many complaints about sports and feel bad about inflicting my weird, obsessive baseball love on the masses.
I’d prefer a renaming of MPSIMS to something less dismissive. Just SIMS would be an improvement.
The five minute edit window would be fine if the board didn’t hang up so often. But it isn’t because it does. Grr.
Pay for features, not membership.
Get rid of post counts on posts.
I don’t care about avatars as long as I can turn them off.
Custom titles (that people pay for, too).
I have vague recollections of reading a thread or threads on this subject before, and that someone with some knowledge (don’t recall if it was a mod or admin or both) basically said that there wasn’t enough of a sports following on the board to justify it having a thread of its own, and that the topic as a whole was best left to fit into whatever existing category works best for the specific thread topic.
Whatever it was I read precisely, I left with the feeling that we just weren’t ever going to see a Sports forum on this board.

More robust software - Enough with the constant slowdowns and freezes.
Moderator sabbaticals - I believe the administration of this board would be much smoother if every moderator was required to take occasional breaks in their duties and experience the board as a general member.
Pictures - We had them on a temporary basis at one point. It can be subject to abuse but sometimes a single picture is worth a thousand words in a post.

What? Are you nuts? This would be horrible. Why are you questioning our powers? We’re just doing our job. It’s the trolls, socks and general kooks who are ruining the Board. Why, I remember in the old days…[sub]drool runs down chin[/sub],…er, uh, …what was I just saying?
Like (I suspect) many Dopers, I find that the lack of avatars and embedded images is one of the reasons I keep coming back to the Dope. (Embedded images sounds great until someone posts an unpopular idea and gets a bunch of pictures of dog shit in response.) Same for the lack of images in sigs and the lack of a vomiting smiley. This board is elegant yet simple and utilitarian, and that’s one of the things that makes it a cut above other boards, IMO.
My biggest wish is for people to stop going nutso in the Pit over how awful the Board is–honestly, I don’t understand where they’re coming from at all. I can’t remember ever having a serious problem with the board’s performance since it went pay-to-play.
As for a sports thread, I used to be for the idea until I realized another thing I don’t like about the majority of other MBs: overspecialization. You know what I’m talking about: a sports forum, a TV forum, a movies forum, a classic movies forum, a forum for new videogames, a forum for the last videogame generation, a pre-1996 videogames forum, a math forum, a computer forum, a car forum…
If any forum got as specific as “Sports” (or “Sports and Games”), it would then be easy to justify splitting CS, GQ, and MPSIMS into at least three or four fora each, and maybe splitting up IMHO too. Add avatars, image embedding and massive sigs and you’ve got GenMay without the casual racism.
Well, with so many people claiming to have this problem, it seems less and less likely that the complainers are just fucking with my head. And I can’t discount your experiences. But I have not had this problem since we went pay-to-post. You guys must be downloading gigabytes of porn while you’re reading the Dope or something.

Would also love, instead of the quote tag asking what to put in quotes, to just put the tags around whatever text you already have selected.
[/QUOTE]
It already does that. Just select the text you want and click on the quote button. It wraps the text in quote tags. Works for me anyway.
