Just start them, I am never shy about doing so during the Baseball season. Maybe we need to annoy the sports haters more. 
My problem with that is that I like signatures, but they get exponentially worse when images are allowed in them. I would hate to have to turn them off.
For what it’s worth, you’re one of the posters whose name I always seem to notice and while I know you like sports, I had no idea you were a huge fan so it must not be *that *obsessive.
I just rarely talk baseball here. I try not to talk about most of my obsessions too much, lest I be run out on a rail. 
Would these threads get responses? I suppose anyone who starts a lot of threads/day is going to end up being pitted, especially if the threads don’t generate much traffic.
OTOH, if people are thread shitting sports threads, report their ass. The mods seem to encourage post reporting and thread shitting is well, shitty.
I’m on several boards that allow images and this kind of thing almost never happens. I have faith that abuse of embedded images/video etc. would not be a problem on this forum.
Please no avatars, signatures, images ever.

IIRC, one of the other reasons we don’t have images and avatars is the same Reader policy that prohibits us from posting long stretches of copyrighted text. Wouldn’t hold my breath on that one changing anytime soon.
I love my image-free board, is really what it comes down to. The rest of you members have as much say as I do, but if I ran it, there would be no images, ever, anywhere.

I knew one of the literalists would step in and go all Albert Einstein on me. You can go ahead and tell yourself I don’t know the meaning of “image” and I was using the word in the most literal sense possible if that will help you sleep better.

It is important to remember **Bryan ** is joking more than he is serious. Of course sometimes he is more subtle than other times and causes self whooshing. Og knows he’s got me dozens of times but then I can be a little slow about these things.

I agree - there’s nothing particularly special about images that makes it possible to break the rules in ways that don’t already exist with text. If image embedding were restricted to members only, that would keep out 99% of the trolls and idiots. If anyone who has actually paid to join posts an image that breaks the rules, ban them and keep the money. Where’s the downside?
I want the avatars because I’ll make the connections better between name and person (at least until they change their avatar), but realize that others do not want them. Animated ones, however, would drive me batshit.
I think that’s a sound alternative, if image embedding absolutely had to allowed.
Bryan Ekers, sorry for getting all het up on you. I have actually been around for quite a long time. I guess I was having a bad night. (BTW, picture my last post with eyes rolling, not spittle flying. When I submitted it, the first thing I thought was, “Oh, great, now some asshole is going to come along and tell me that the Straight Dope banner is an image, etc., and try to make me look stupid.” So, I did overreact–sorry.)
