Straights turned on by homosexuality?

(the images are mildly erotic and depict kissing, but I consider them work safe)

I’m going to take a guess that most of the guys will be turned on by the first one. I will also guess that most of the women will not be turned on by the second one. Or maybe my guesses are way off?

Stereotypically, it is often assumed that straight guys enjoy watching lesbians together (consider the porn industry… where there is a supply, there must be a demand?). I was wondering if this thread might go some way to dispell this myth… or possibly prove it.

For the record, personally, watching lesbians go at it doesn’t get my motor running, so maybe I’m the exception to the rule?

Bi girl here… turned on by the second one, definitely not turned on by the first one, mostly 'cause they look like they’re twelve. What I really want to know is why we get cheated by only getting a face shot of the guys. Pbbbtttt.

I “moderated” a discussion many, many, many moons ago among some friends of mine wherein we considered the general belief that two women together will invariably turn men on, whereas two men together will invariably not turn women on. I’m curious to see if some of the same theories we came up with back then hold true here.

The second one didn’t show enough.

Seriously, plenty of women are turned on by guy on guy stories and pictures. Why is slash so popular among straight females?

Sex is sexy. Men & women, women & women, men & men. It’s all sexy.

Men & barnyard animals…well, I think I have some spam I could forward you if you’re into that…

Female.

No on the first one, yes on the second one.

Another female checking in. Second one is very sexy. I just wish it had been as “complete” as the first one. Tingle.

I can easily watch lesbian porn, but I prefer straight porn.

Gurls kissing is nice to look at (tatu)

male gay imagery makes me very uncomfortable (shudder).

Interesting <rubs chin>

Everyone likes the second pic so far.

Um… I didn’t even know what slash was until recently (although I had heard of it) - is it really that popular?

Bi male here. I really liked the first, and felt the second needed to show more for me to be ‘turned on’ by it. I did find the second one romantic though.

Straight guy here. No on both counts.

Does that make me asexual?

Mostly straight chick here. I didn’t find the second picture terribly appealing, but OTOH Brian Kinney making out with various guys in Queer as Folk is one of the hottest things I’ve ever seen (at least where everyone involved is clothed.) The picture of the two women was beautiful, aesthetically speaking and pretty hot as well.

But those two pictures aren’t really a fair for comparison purposes, IMHO. The two women are shown full-length, and touching in numerous places, not to mention actually kissing. The men are barely touching.

I also read slash, so needless to say, I am quite fond of guys together.

IMO, no it doesn’t mean you are asexual, HPL. I don’t think anyone is truly asexual, are they? We all have sexual desires of some kind.

though gay, and not turned on by the first, and thought the second did not show enough, I must say that many of my female friends would rather borrow one of my porn tapes than watch something for the straight eye. and been told by one of them that it is because of the seemingly more romantic aspect of some gay porn. just 2 cents from the peanut gallery.

Got this wierd oogy feeling from the first picture…like I was watching my female cousins make out with each other or something…

The second one seemed pretty tame. To be honest, I wasn’t really aroused by either.

I dunno if this is unique to me, but when watching porn, I feel that I am one of the few 100% straight guys that doesn’t mind seeing the guy going at it. I mean, the man is 50% of what constitutes heterosexual sex.

My wife is proof that this isn’t true.

I do find the first picture pretty appealing and sexy, and I pictures/movies/stories of two (or more) women making love do excite me.

As Paul Reiser said on Mad About You when asked why this turn him on, “I agree with both of them”.

Straight girl.

First one…I don’t like that but I wouldn’t like it with men or straight people either, though (as you can imagine from something fairly tame, I don’t like much visual porn either). It’s too in your face for someone like me who’d rather just imagine people in intimate settings. I’d have disliked a mirror image of the second picture less.

The second one…I’m neutral on; it’s not a turn on or turn off. There’s no story to explain why I should care that they’re about to kiss, you know?

As for the other issue brought up, I’m not big into slash, mostly because I hate erotica- gay, straight or bi- about characters I care about in other venues; orginal characters who are gay men, on the otherhand, I have no problem reading about. I don’t read anything about lesbians though, I just don’t get anything out of it.

Female. I’m straight. Occasionally I’ll fantasize about other women, and I’ll probably wind up “experimenting” when I go away to college. On the good old Kinsey scale, I believe I was a 2. That said, I believe I’m going to be in a minority here.

I wasn’t aroused by either of them…not at all by the second and a bit, maybe, by the first. To answer your question with my past experience though, here it is: looking at pictures of gay men together doesn’t turn me on at all. Looking at pictures of lesbians has, as has heterosexual porn.

I think this might be that because I’m occasionally turned on by other women, I’d conceivably “fit in” in a lesbian situation since I’ve always wanted to see what it’d be like, and I obviously would in a heterosexual one, being straight. Whereas with the gay men, they wouldn’t really want anything to do with me.

Another slash writer (and another ‘yes’ on the second pic).

There are hundreds of people, mostly straight women, at the slash conventions I go to every year, and thousands on some of the e-mail lists I subscribe to. So, yes, it’s pretty popular, but a lot of women just don’t go around talking about it outside of their own slashy circles.
