I was at a hunting lodge last week, walked around to the back patio and there on the open grill was an entire pig… entire except for guts pulled and legs cut off. The heat from the fire had made his eyes open and his lips curl back exposing his teeth in a macabre grin. So nine of us men, all drinking beer, sat out on that patio trying to sneer at each other with the same sick grin. Our hosts thought we were plumb loco. The chef did come over and cut portios off for us to sample. The skin was very brittle and the meat fatty but it was delicious. We ate the hole thing for dinner.
Err… make that the “whole” thing.
I’m having problems thinking of a food that I wouldn’t eat under these circumstances.
On the one hand, I am normally a fussy eater.
On the other hand, I like living too much.
Those are called shitterlinks darling, for obvious reasons. (i.e. source, smell, taste…eeeeeeewwww!)
:dubious:
Aw, c’mon lieu, who are you trying to fool? We ALL know you by now. I’m sure you ate the “hole thing” too.
I’m not sure there’s anything I wouldn’t be willing to eat under these circumstances, assuming of course it isn’t poisonous or crawling with maggots.
No, wait, I did think of something. I would not eat Derek Jeter’s asshole boiled in Barry Bonds’s urine. That I’d pass on.
I’m afraid I was at a loss to choose the appropriate fork.
I tried sweetbreads once. It didn’t taste like anything, I thought it was gonna be really gross, but nope, no flavor at all. (which kinda freaked me out worse BTW) I’d eat it if I was starving to death though. The only thing I’d have a hard time w/ would be seafood. But if I’m really gonna starve to death I think I could force it down.
Although I think I would rather die or eat my own calf that attempt to eat that Garum stuff. Ack!
Walnut shells would be kind of a bitch on the teeth, but I would still try.
There is nothing wrong with crumbed brains, although you do need to ensure that you devein them first. I guess it must be more a European or British tradition. I love things like tripe, brawn or ox tail soup. My daughters (Australian) would sooner starve though.
Thank you for helping identify that thin, bitter filling that surrounds the nut of the pecan as something I’d surely deny even at death’s doorstep.
Olives!!! black or green it matters not
Sand.
I had to read that one twice!
