He’s eaten every kind of game meat ever. Even nutria and opossum. Many kinds of chile. Frog legs are disgusting. Not me. Nope.
Tombstone Pizza used to have a tuna and onion variety - I loved it.
I once had a slice of tuna and corn pizza at a place in London (England). Not something I’d care to try again.
I know I am less than an adventurous foodie. I ain’t fixin’ to eat a fish pizza or fish tacos for that matter.
I’ve always been told fish and cheese don’t go together, whatever MickeyDs sells.
Not even anchovy pizza? I loooooooooove anchovy pizza! :o
Never had anchovies. I guess I would try it once if I trusted the source or restaurant.
They’re salty. Very, very salty. For some people it’s an acquired taste. You might want to order a pizza that’s half anchovy before you commit yourself.
They go well with other standard toppings (sausage, pepperoni, green pepper) too.
I sometimes make seafood pizza with anchovies, shrimps, scallops, onion, olives (black and green), and green pepper. I use red sauce because I find anchovies too salty to use bechamel. It’s fine to use with shrimps and scallops, though.
I put anchovies on my aglio e olio pasta and pesto pasta before - it tastes good.
I always try to buy anchovies packed in olive oil and wrapped around capers. The capers get sprinkled over the top of the pizza too.
For a quick spaghetti sauce, I dump a tin of anchovies with their oil into a frying pan and then add chopped onion, peppers, and garlic. Once they’re sauteed, I add a can of chopped tomatoes, some tomato paste, and some Italian seasoning. Yum-O! :o
Haven’t you had fish mornay? Fish is nice in a white or cheese sauce.
I recently ordered a pizza that had anchovies on it. I would have preferred smaller "bits’, it was a bit overpowering over the rest of the "stuff’.
If you ever make it to NYC, try bagels with lox and cream cheese.
Like I say, for some people it’s an acquired taste. Best to start out slowly.
Ever had scrambled eggs with lox? I read somewhere once that’s what Jack Ruby ate at his sister’s place before heading out to Western Union.
In one episode of MASH***, Winchester was making scrambled eggs with kippers he’d been sent from home. Talk about salty! Hoo-boy; when I tried this, I could manage only a few little bits of fish at a time!
No. I’m sure you can buy it here, but lox isn’t something I’ve come across. I’m not that keen on smoked fish, I’d rather just have it fresh steamed or fried or baked or whatever. I’d probably not mind it but I’d want a huge proportion of egg to fish, especially if it’s really salty.
I do this exact sauce, with lots of fresh basil and some fresh oregano.
I also love Pasta with sardines, olives, and capers. A little Italian place in St Martin had it on their menu. Sadly, Warren retired and shut down his place.
A German roommate of mine once cooked us a dish with pork medallions, bananas, ketchup and whipping cream. It was all right, but I don’t think I would cook it myself.
Here’s a similar recipe (with curry powder and cheese added): Pork Loin Curry - Germanfoods.org
For Thanksgiving we generally had it at my brother’s place with he, his wife, and her sister doing the cooking and my dad and his second wife as guests. Since all three were excellent cooks, this worked out well. Then one year it was decided (not in my presence) that dinner would be at dad’s with his in-laws in attendance – perfectly reasonable for Peg to spend the day with her family for once. When I arrived, it was evident the “feast” was to be midwestern cookery in all its glory, including the (in)famous Green Bean Casserole, with canned green beans. Needless to say, the turkey was dry.
Brother and SIL were there so I was thinking at least I’ll have company in my misery but, no. As we were getting ready to sit down, they said, “Well, we’re off to eat with [sister] – ta, ta!” and vanished. I have never quite forgiven them.
Lately we have been eating baked potatoes ( made in instant pot) we start with broc and cheese and then whatever may be in leftovers in the fridge… the other night was broc and cheese, bacon and ham diced up and zucchini topped with a dollop of sour cream.
The Verdict Is In!
Hardly worth a mention. Probably started with a shitty, frozen pizza to begin with. Crust was too thin and crunchy. The clams were flavorless. May have used too much garlic (as if! Not! )
A Fail.
Reuben eggrolls and Southwestern eggrolls are as common as Chinese eggrolls now. In case anyone thinks those are too exotic.
That was our local store as well.
I think the building is one of those title loan places now.
