Stranger than Fiction

SWMBO and I saw it last night. It’s very good overall and I recommend it.

But I have to ask. This was the first movie I have seen with Maggie Gyllenhaal. Her character exhibits several tattoos, including a monster one on her shoulder. Are they for real? They are really hideous and the one on her shoulder looks like a massive skin infection. That was rather disconcerting, to say the least.

They’re character-specific and I thought they made her more attractive, personally. I’ve never found her particularly attractive in previous roles (even in Secretary, which everyone but me seems to love) but I did in this movie.

I also saw it last night and loved it. It’s the first movie I’ve seen in a while that after it ended, I immediately wanted to see it again. If I wasn’t off to see Borat tonight, I’d probably go see it again tonight.

It was odd though that Dustin Hoffman was essentially rehashing his role from I Heart Huckabees.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is adorable in this movie. Loved the tattoos.

I just got back from seeing this and absolutely loved it. My favorite film of the year so far (not that I have seen that many.) The writing and directing and especially the acting were fantastic.
Everyone played their roles perfectly. I was tremendously impressed with Will Ferrell, and Emma Thompson proved again why she is one my favorite actresses of all time.

I can think of any negatives. It had a few moments where I thought it could go ‘wrong’, and it never did. Definitely buying the DVD when it comes out.

I just wish there were more bakeries like that one in the real world.

Saw it, really enjoyed it.
