Away We Go!

I just saw this. What a cute film. Sometimes it was hilarious and sometimes poignant. Maggie Gyllenhaal was hilarious and the stroller-hating hippe.

My wife and I saw it last night. The whole scene with Maggie Gyllenhall was a little over the top, and the pacing of the movie was not great. But it was very funny and very sweet, and I think I’m in love with Maya Rudolph now.

Oh, and Allison Janney is awesome as always.

I thought it was enjoyable. Seemed like it didn’t know what it wanted to be. Many of the characters were so absurdly over the top, it didn’t mix that well with the poignant, realism of the relationship journey.

I was watching the preview and thought “this looks abysmal” and when it got to “written by Dave Eggers” I thought “well that explains it.” Different strokes!
