Stranger Things 4 trailer [spoilers for season 3 & 4]

I liked Season 3 far better than 2, FWIW. This current one is somewhere between 2 and 3 quality-wise for me. I like that it’s finally starting to answer some questions about the Upside Down rather than just spitting out another big monster, but there are too many characters I don’t give a crap about. (Seriously, I would’ve been happy if Nancy and Jonathan had remained side characters; they get less interesting every season.)

I also liked Season 3 better than Season 2 (although I liked them both). Season 2 was just kind of a rehash of Season 1; at least Season 3 was doing something different.

My only real complaint about Season 4 is that the Russia subplot is okay but not great.

I don’t think they have that kinda balls. A core character has never really been killed, and they keep ADDING characters. We now have Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, Max, Robin, Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan, and that’s just core kids, plus Hopper and Joyce. Two of those people have been killed… and resurrected. If they want to kill someone now they introduce someone like Sean Astin or Dacre Montgomery whose job it is to die.

So, someone like Eddie?

Eddie seems like a friendly guy who’s in high school so he might become part of the gang for S5. I think Paul Reiser might die ths season though.

I agree that of everything in this ridiculous(ly well-produced) universe, the implausible job opportunity for No.1 threat to be employed as lowly orderly seems to me the worst. The answer ‘hubris’ doesn’t really fit with my reading of ‘Papa’. He seems more pragmatic than that.

I’d assume the good doctor wanted to keep that threat close and under control. Maybe he figured he could “fix” him later.

I would be disappointed if Eddie dies, considering the whole kicking off the plot for this season was “we have to save Eddie.”

Although next season is the last, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if a major character gets killed off at the end of S5. Not the core 4, but someone like Johnathan or Steve.

I will be very disappointed if Eddie does, too, but I think he’s a goner. He’s in that happy middle ground: a fan favorite so there’s real emotion if he dies, but not central enough to mess with the core.

I’d be surprised if a major character dies this season, I think they’ll save it for the final season. As mentioned above, Mike would be the best option to resolve the pending Mike-Will-El triangle. Nancy is also a possibility for the same reason.

I’d be surprised if Jonathan or Steve died. Steve is just too awesome, and he ties everyone together. While Jonathan is a possibility plot-wise, I don’t think they’d do that to Joyce. She always seems to be hit with the big losses.

And unfortunately, El dying at the end is the only realistic resolution to her arc.

At this point, yeah, they’ve demonstrated pretty clearly she can’t function on her own in “normal” society. It doesn’t seem likely she and Mike are going to settle down as normal boyfriend and girlfriend after all this.

There is a trailer out now for the remaining “Volume 2” episodes of Season 4

Loved that shot of Eddie on top of the ruins. I hope he’s really good on that guitar.

Kick his ass, Lucas!

Heck, Joyce may be the one who dies. Adds into Hopper’s belief that everyone around him is cursed.

Though if they kill off Steve, I’m gonna riot.

If they did kill someone off, it’d have to be for good; I don’t think they could get away with another Hopper-esque fakeout death.

That’s why I’m saying it would be a big death near the end of next season, which is supposed to be the last.

I really hope they are sticking with the plan to end this after next season. And I am hoping that at the very end, just as it looks like our heroes are about to save the day one more time, the Mindflayer wins and eats everything. The whole world, all of it.

Otherwise how do you end S5? “Yeah, I know the other 4 times we won that evil returned, but this time we really did it!”

I feel that Eddie’s story arc requires him to die. 1) He is always saying how he always runs away from danger. So that means that he will have to make a big sacrifice to redeem his cowardly ways. 2) His death would mean that the townspeople would think a serial killer is dead and would not have to be told about the Upside Down and the real purpose of Hawkins lab, etc.

Based on the latest trailer from June 21, I feel that the person Eddie and Dustin are trying to save from Vecna is Eleven. She is seen in Vecna’s house, her bare feet are rising up from the ground in the trailer. She is having visions from a bridge of the skating rink scene with a speaker system next to her. Eddie dies, Eleven goes on to help save the day. I think.

Yeah, I am really having trouble sorting how Victor Creel’s odd little boy = One = Vecna.

How did One end up with 001 tattooed on his wrist anyway? I thought kids like 11 were the result of Brenner stealing babies, maybe after their mothers took LSD (a la Firestarter perhaps) and so that’s how they ended up with their psychokinetic powers. But with One/Vecna, it seems like he was just some freak of nature and somehow Brenner found him … and decided, “hey, I think I’ll create an army of these kids, better tattoo 001 on this first kid and figure out how to make more”?

Makes no sense to me.

Or maybe “Hey, psychic powers are actually real? Can we study them? Can we create people with psychic powers to fight the Russians?”

I mean, that’s pretty much what One said. I figure he tatooed him at around the same time Two was born.
