Strictly come Dancing

OK call me a wuss, I don’t care.

I’ve been following this programme on UK TV and I find myself in awe of the contestants.

People, some of whom have never danced before, have displayed some marvelous talent and I admire the hard work and effort all of them have put into it.

It’s down to the last 3 now and my money is on Emma Bunton/Darren Bennett to win.

If you haven’t yet watched this programme, do yourself a favour, tune in Saturday night

Ya big girls blouse, chowder.

I too think the Emma/Darren combo is likely to win. It’s an oddly addictive show.

I don’t normally have any time for “Celebrity…” this, or “Reality…” that, but this show has that addictive component of watching people improve gradually as they learn new skills.

Except for Bruce Forsyth, sadly, who dies on his arse each and every time. Someone ought to explain to him that those long silences after his jokes aren’t because he’s going over the audience’s heads.

I’m annoyingly interested in this now, too. To the point where i’m watching the crappy short programmes on BBC2 they have on every day if there’s nothing else on. Oh, the shame.

I want Louisa and Vincent to win, pretty much just because they’re both hot. So i’m both shallow and a wuss.

You’re out of luck. They got knocked out on saturday.

Anybody else suprised that Emma Bunton is getting so little public support?

I haven’t seen the show, so I may be misunderstanding, but…“come dancing?” Exactly what kind of dancing is come dancing?

Serious question? It’s a reference to a long-running BBC show, Come Dancing, which was a competition between professional ballroom dancers. The “Strictly” part obviously comes from Strictly Ballroom. And in case you don’t realise it, Strictly Come Dancing is the format that spawned Dancing with the Stars and all the other versions around the world.

I have to say, that’s quite a relief…

Right. I was in the UK last year for most of that season of ‘SCD’, the one that, er, Darren Gough won, and enjoyed it so much that I’ve been following the stateside version ever since. It’s just killing me that this season’s got Baby Spice possibly going All. The. Way. and I can’t see it (except maybe as grainy Internet 'casts).

And, speaking as an American here, yes, Bruce Forsyth is gobsmackingly lame, but I simply can’t imagine anyone else in his place. Frankly, it’s partly that whiff of music-hall schtick that attracted me to the thing in the first place.

Well it is also the punchline to, “What’s white and glides across the floor?”

I’m surprised that Emma/Darren are getting little public support.

I mean they’ve finished top the last 2 weeks and yet have to “Dance off” to get to the semi finals.

She’s cute and skillful and really puts her all into her dance routines.
Oh yes, Forsyth makes an utter fool of himself every week.

Much as I dislike reality shows, this one is curiously addictive. I do enjoy seeing the progress these folks have made and it reminds me how much fun dancing can be. I did ballroom and Latin in my younger days and was pretty good at it (competition level) but I gave it up in my teens to play rugby instead. I wonder if I could just go back to the way it used to be…

Scary Faerie I don’t think this is a reality show in the true meaning of the phrase.

Big Brother and it’s ilk leave me cold, a bunch of useless foul mouthed cretins trying their utmost to be even more stupid than they actually are…and succeeding!

No, Strictly is, as you say, reminding people of just how much fun dancing can be, especially ballroom.

I used to dance in my youth, wasn’t all that good, but heck I gave it my best shot and enjoyed every minute of it.

Oh bugger!

Emma/Darren voted out by the public despite getting top marks from the judges.

Still she’s got the best legs I’ve seen in a long while.

Forsyth continues to make an arse of himself

Or Sunday…Monday…Tuesday…EVERY BLOODY NIGHT.

ENDLESS film of z-list slebs and sporting has-beens poncing around on a dance floor. The only interesting question is ‘has Bruce Forsyth got a quarantine license for that thing on his head?’

As you can probably tell, I don’t like the programme much.

You don’t have to tune in every bloody night

The main show is on a Saturday, rest of the week is either repeats or just waffle

There’s barely any point in watching the final now. No Emma, no interest.

I’m sorry for Forsyth though. It must be terrible to try to be a professional entertainer when you have no discernible talent whatsoever. A bit like trying to win the Olympic 100m race when you have only one leg.

What has Heather-Gimme money-Mills-McCartney got to do with it :stuck_out_tongue:

Strictly Come Dancing? No indeed. I enjoy the rest of The Kinks’ work, too.
