stripclubs in Montreal

are there a lot of strip clubs in Montreal? here in Wilmington there are 2, and there on the outskirts of the city. i know that Montreal is a little bit bigger then Wilmington, so i imagine there might be a couple more? any round guesses on a number? thanks

Er…

Montreal is not a “little bit bigger” than Wilmington. Montreal is an immensely large city; it’s comparable in size to Philadelphia.

It has a LOT of strip joints.

Lots and lots and lots. On Ste. Catherine between Atwater and Berri, there has to be at least 30 or something. Plus probably another 30 or so one block off of Ste. Catherine. I really wouldn’t know how many there are in total.

Last I heard, there’s three no-contact bars, one bar for male strippers (281), and the most popular bars for tourists are Super-Sexe (on Ste. Catherine and McGill) and Chez Paré.

Plus, isn’t Canadian law on stripping much more liberal than U.S. law, i.e. full nudity+alcohol+full contact, etc.?

Oh Canada! Serious talent as well, and yeah, though I don’t know the laws, I know there’s more fun to be had…

Pretty girls, legal contact. Worth the trip

You can figure out the link from there (and follow the francais). A bit more than stripping, and you must bring a partner.

You can check out the strip club section with the lovely gentlemen (slightly skeptical smiley here) at merb.ca. I don’t recommend the ‘street action’ board unless you feel like being ashamed on behalf of your gender for a long, long while.

That’s the bar for male strippers for women. There are also numerous male strip bars for fellows in the gay village, including Stock, Adonis, Campus (for buff guys), Taboo (for young-looking guys), etc.

In any case, Montreal is famous for its strip bars, and what Americans may not be used to depending on state is that the dancers get completely naked. There are also contact lap dances called danses à dix because they cost (or used to cost) $10.

I can’t claim to be an expert in this subject, however, so I leave it to those with more experience with such things.

FYI, no hijack intended, this sort of thing isn’t restricted by US law but rather state or local law. No cite here, but almost everything to do with restrictions on freedoms in the US based on “moral standards” have to reference LOCAL community moral standards.

And while I do not have a cite, I do have, erm, professional experience, outdated though it may be.

Carry on.

Similarly, the applicable laws in Canada are determined at the provincial, and sometimes even municipal, level. Montreal has the reputation for having some pretty wild strip bars.

wow, i had no idea. this is both good and bad news

This site says 32 (did i count that right?)

I have very fond teenage memories of Super Sexe Club, 696 St. Catherine street. Hell, I have fond memories of ALL of St. Catherine street!

So what brings you to Montreal (besides the obvious)?

Ah, how I remember the late night TV ads on NBC during my formative years for Club Super Sex!

Plus the Super-Sexe sign makes a great landmark when giving directions!
