Stroll! Stroll leisurely away from the water for your life!

Jellyfish invade beaches across the southern US

Ok. This made me laugh out loud. :):stuck_out_tongue:

I just came to post in appreciation of the funny thread title, too.

Reminds me of the time I was in Florida, and all along the beach there were these colorful balloon-looking things at the edge of the water. They kinda looked like jellyfish, but they very strongly looked like they were made of plastic. Especially the colors. The whole walk I was wondering what heck.

As it turned out, they technically weren’t jellyfishafter all.

(I mean seriously. Look at that and tell me it doesn’t look like a plastic thingy).

Sounds like a jellyfish bloom-these are usually triggered by exceptionally warm water, or lots of nutrients in the water. Back before Boston Harbor was cleaned up, jellyfish blooms would happen every smmer-I can remember being out in the boat, and seeing chopped up jellyfish in the wake.
Its disgusting, but mostly harmless.

Never saw a photo of a Portugese man o’war before, only drawings. That’s freaky. They look like some kind of inflatable pool float.

According to Regretsy, jellyfish are all different flavors but you have to lick them to find out.

I larfed at the mental picture of you casually mentioning to passersby on the beach, “Stroll for your lives, eh?”

Who wants to join me at the Jellyfish Ball in Springfield?

Huh. I didn’t know that a Man o’ War isn’t actually a jellyfish. Ignorance fought.

It’s not even one creature! Freaked me out when I found out about a month ago. In an argument with my son. God, I hate it when he’s right.
