Hooray! Glad they finally worked this out.
Wonderful. Just yesterday afternoon a coworker was at my desk saying he wasn’t sure the movie would get released. I told him about six times it was going to happen because there was too much money at stake, and it’s nice to be proved right.
So it occurred to me yesterday that the ruling on the release of the Watchmen movie is scheduled for January 20, 2009.
Which happens to coincide with umm, oh, I don’t know, the inauguration of Obama?!?
I wonder if the judge his hoping to downplay his verdict in the midst of the hub bub of other more news-grabbing events.
Which begs me to ask, **“WHO WATCHES THE WATCHMEN?” **:dubious:
and yes, i know it’s probably not a vast right wing conspiracy. i just want the movie to be released already.
There won’t be any ruling because they settled yesterday. I’m merging this post with a thread about the settlement.

…epecially since I learned that they’re not “updating it,” and it will still be all Cold War and fully of Nixony goodness. I have high hopes.

I don’t think that’s an accident either. When clock- and watchmakers choose to simplify a face, they usually reduce all the numbers to hash marks or something, except 3, 6, 9, and 12. And since so much of the back story of Watchmen has to do with counting down to midnight … it’s like Alan Moore planned it this way or something.
Except, of course, that he’s playing no role in this production and has said he hates the mere thought of it. He’s been burned plenty bad by Hollywood before.
Good thing the movie adaptation was abandoned in the planning stages, then, and was never completed, isn’t it?
