I can’t see another thread.
I was really worried about this. Now, not so much. If the movie is like the trailer then this is gonna fucking be very good.
Seriously it looks very good.

Well, I happen to think 300 was an ugly, tedious, unmitigated piece of shit. So I have to assume this will be better (since it could hardly be worse).
The trailer does look pretty cool, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much (yet). Here’s hoping…
Buh.
Oh my GOD.
That is frikkin’ gorgeous, if nothing else.
Ozy and Silk Spectre look much better in motion (and they were the only ones I had issue with in the stills), and good lord - Doc Manhattan? The Martian glass fortress? Holy crap.
Oh shit.
Oh, shit…
Dr. Manhattan looks right – the slight fuzzyness will emphasize his other-worldliness without having to resort to Austin Powerisms, and the “Damn, this is interesting” look on Jon’s face just before the field builds up is priceless…
Archie is flying, Rorschach’s ink is moving, the Silk Spectre is kicking ass, and the Martian Glass Fortress looks better on film than it did in the comic.
Oh. Shit.
The thing is though that almost all of the problems with 300 lay in the source material. Snyder replicated it very well on the budget he had.
This is a different animal. Watchmen is no 300 and on the basis on this trailer it looks like he might get it right.
He is purposely hitting the notes to help the fanboys get over their worries. Showing the Comedian/Manhattan in Vietnam means that some of the back story will be mentioned. The only line of dialogue is from Rorschach and it’s a perfect Rorschach line. NIght Owl like cool as fuck, how he does I don’t quite know as the costume is really silly but he manages to make him look cool and menacing which is what he was in the book. And they’re doing some of the Mars stuff as well.
All in all I pretty stoked.
Holy crap, this looks amazing. I hope the rest of the film lives up to the promise of the trailer.
I’m much more optomistic now. But I still wonder how they’ll cram everything in. Probably the original 1940’s superheroes will be cut. I wonder what else?
Oh yeah, and the Comedian looks more dangerous than a very dangerous thing in a dangerous situation. He’s an absolute sociopath. Did you see the smile when he’s playing with the flamethrower?
The Tales of the Black Freighter will be done as a separate straight-to-DVD feature. I remember something about how they were handling Under the Hood, but I can’t remember just what. But that’s, what, 1/3 to 1/2 of the book right there?
The Pirate Story is gonna be an extra on the DVD I’ve read as they are filming it. I’ve also seen a still of a kid reading a comic beside a news stand in NY which would tie it in.
They have to cut out stuff. That’s gonna happen. If they capture the heart and the feel and hopefully don’t wimp out at the end(not holding my breath) that would be enough for me.
Jackson IMO did enough with LOTR to satisfy me and from the look of this trailer it looks like the makers understand and respect the source material.
I’m rarely an optimist but this trailer looks like the movie could be the real deal which is not what I was expecting.
The IMDb listing at least shows Hollis Mason (original Nite Owl) and Sally Jupiter (original Silk Spectre), but who knows how much screen time they’ll get.
And on goggling I find you’re correct. Wohoo!

Dr. Manhattan looks fantastic, which quells at least 40% of my fears. Can’t wait!
Who watches the Watchmen… trailer?
Begone, non-geeks/comic nerd etc. albeit one with some classical knowledge
Which also mentions what they’re doing with Under the Hood. Whoo.
Sorry to ruin the meeting, Captain Metropolis, but it don’t mean squat. Now pardon me, but I got an appointment.
You’ve gotta read some more classics. May I recommend this
You have been sooooooo whooshed.
Cool. It happens quite a bit so I’m used to it.
Dumb drunken Mick that I am <— I resemble that remark
I assumed you just goggled the Captain Metropolis thing BTW.
