Windows XP and my cdrom don’t get along for an unknown reason. For some reason, when I remove a cd and put another in, it’ll still “remember” the previous cd - even if I refresh it, it gives me a file list from the previous cd. If I eject and put back in the CD again, it’ll load correctly.
Another problem that has cropped up quite annoyingly is that safedisced games won’t recognize the cd when it’s in there. I’ll have the correct CD in, and I’ll get “please insert correct cd and restart program”. So great, I can’t play my own friggin games.
I tried uninstalling the device/drivers and rebooting to see if perhaps that’d somehow fix it, but I still have the same problems. Anyone have any ideas as to how I could get XP liking the cdrom again?
I’m pretty sure this isn’t hardware related… I have another OS installed on this machine that I can test that with, but last I recall, it worked fine - I would rather just not be constantly hopping OSes whenever I had the urge to play a game.
