Stupid Gun news of the day (Part 1)

That’s a good general rule right there: Anybody who thinks they need to carry probably shouldn’t be allowed to.

I’m pretty sure he could buy one there. Or maybe even rent one.

Yes but do you really expect him to drive all the way through Canada without one?

This page from the RCMP site seems to say there are provisions for transporting firearms: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/faq/trans-eng.htm

Don’t make any sudden moves around him. Sounds like he’s itching to play Wild Bill Hickok.

A baby’s soother would be easier and cheaper.

Exactly. He strikes me as paranoid.

He’s not someone I hang out with. He’s more a friend of a friend. I’ve only met him in person once and, while I wouldn’t avoid a social occasion just because he’s there, he’s not someone I’d go out of my way to be around.

You wouldn’t want to sit with your back to him.

Sounds like a cool dude to me.

The anti-inanimate object people flip out over the number of random shootings in this country and then flip out when someone prepares to defend themselves from one.

I’ll take that dude in my group over the beta male sporting her rape whistle any day.

He’s paranoid. The guy won’t sit with his back to a door. That’s not normal.

And what’s with the “anti-inanimate object” talk? What? I’m anti-rocks? I’m anti-chairs and tables? If you mean “gun”, then say “gun”. Otherwise you’re just going to confuse people and any point you’re trying to make will get lost. And the “rape whistle” non-sequitur doesn’t help with your credibility either.

And I’m not anti-gun in principle. I just think that there’s a right place and a wrong place. For most people, the odds that you’ll need a gun during your day to day life are so remote that it ends up being more of a liability (accidents, theft, curious children grabbing at it, etc.) than an asset. When it’s in the possession of a nervous individual who’s constantly on alert as to who might walk through a door, it’s an outright danger.

Being fully aware of your surroundings and being paranoid are two different things. Just because you can’t differentiate between the two doesn’t mean other people can’t.

I have a CCW and the chances of an accident, theft or child grabbing my gun is zero. Amazingly as it sounds, you would never even know I had a gun on me.

Now if someone strolls in and starts blasting people, by all means run up to him and give him a stern word on the evils of guns. Give someone like your buddy or me time to aim center mass and help decide our fates for ourselves.

Meat shields are a bonus to have around as well

I can tell the difference perfectly well. The gentleman in question has a problem with risk assessment. It’s not normal or healthy in non-combat situations to be constantly on the alert like that. This man was shot in the past (apparently because he drew first) so he may be suffering PTSD.

Unless I’m being wooshed and you’re actually deliberately acting as an example of the type of person this thread is about in order to make a point, the polite thing would be for you to take your silly strawman attacks and thread hijacking elsewhere.

You can start your own thread: “Stupid anti-inanimate object people and rape whistle sporting beta males news of the day…”. It may be a rather lonely thread…

Chalk up another tragedy to the gun-control fiends.

The Second Commandment contains no age threshold. McKayla Dyer was entitled to pack her own weapon and stand her ground. Had America’s libtard anti-gun culture not deprived Miss Dyer of her constitutional right to a gun for self-defence, the neighbor might have thought twice before pulling the trigger.

More people die from head injuries than are killed by guns. If you were so concerned about your personal safety, you’d be much better off wearing a helmet everywhere instead of a gun.

That’s not really why you wear a gun, is it? The phrase “Give…me time to aim center mass” is telling.

Seems he’s confused his manhood with an inanimate object as well. I wonder what he’d say if someone told him there are entire countries where gun ownership is rare, yet they still manage to procreate?

I also think it’s telling that there can be complete boneheads making the gun advocate side look not just dumb, but insane, yet no more moderate advocates care enough to even distance themselves from the crazy. I know there are moderates, they post that they’d be willing to accept (such a giant leap!) registration of handguns (gasp!) if they were asked pretty please and got an ironclad guarantee that their freedom to pursue a hobby would never be eroded beyond that step.

I’m being unfair, I think andros pointed out the difference between him and coocoo mckrazy here. Still, if he was on my side, I’d be throwing rocks along with the rest of the relatively sane people.

Lovely snark, septimus, btw.

This is from KHOU, in Houston Texas. Thank God there was a good guy with a gun present.

Yes, thank God, a Chevy truck was at stake.

ETA: sorry, I see you sarcasm now. I didn’t realize the good Samaritan shot the victim not the perp.

The only way this could be possible were if you didn’t have a gun on you in the first place, Mr. Perfect.

A whole lot of people have thought it could never happen to them, until one day it did.

There is no such thing as zero risk. A claim that there is indicates a capacity for self-delusion.
