Q: What was he doing driving to a store with a gun? Was he going to leave it in the car to get stolen? Bring it inside to rob the place and terrorize people? Maybe shoot old Mrs. H’Wiggins for having 15 items in the 12 items or less checkout?
This thought has entered my mind; usually for far more than 15 items though.
That guy looks like he has never fired a gun in his life. Maybe not ever driven a car, either.
I’m by no means a fan of guns, at all.
But certain circumstances make that action acceptable. There is a Youtube of a South African motorcycle policeman handling a hot pursuit pretty well.
Yes, I know this doesn’t belong in the Supid Gun News thread.
Just because he did it doesn’t make it a good idea. There are lots of ways that could have gone bad. It’s not that easy to ride one-handed in that situation, even more so if you have to made a sudden maneuver. Also not easy to shoot one-handed action hero-style like that (I am not a gun owner). Also not safe to fire a gun at a car on a public road. Suppose you hit the driver. What’s he going to hit? Suppose you hit another car? Also could have shot into a house. I saw a pedestrian at one point. He had plenty of backup at the stop. One thing we don’t know is why the cop was shooting at a fleeing car. Looked like a lone driver. It was not clear if the driver was trying to shoot back.
A nine year old’s gun went off inside the day care center he attends after school.
He must have been trying to stop a bad nine-year-old with a gun.
Or a school shooter.
Damn, a nine-year-old in a daycare center? By the time I was nine, my parents just gave me a house key and let me fend for myself. What is the world coming to?
These days your neighbors will call CPS on you for that.
South Holland isn’t as idyllic as the name might imply.
Well, these days they give you a gun and let you fend for yourself.

Update!
The gun toting 9 year old is the child of a police officer!
Someone needs to be packing at the local daycare. Who better? They already have access to a gun and like to conceal carry. Just a little work on the safety and we’ll be all set.
Is it normal for daycare to pick up kids from school?
Some do. It can be hard to find, though. Sometimes larger chain places offer it.
My local schools have busses that go to some daycares
That’s great when it’s available! My colleague is scrambling to find a daycare spot for her daughter in September, and the only nearby place that provides transportation only rarely has openings. A slot just opened up if she grabs it now, but she’ll have to send her kid from now until September even though they don’t need it yet.
The larger centers here that used to provide transport, like Children’s World and Kinder Care, aren’t around anymore (at least not in my area). And they were very mediocre (at best) centers. I’m glad to hear that some places have more to offer.
