Not in any way stupid, but kind of niche and maybe too political for the latest school shooting thread topic:
During his prayer, Black said, “Remind our lawmakers of the words of the British statesman Edmund Burke: All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.”
“Lord, deliver our senators from the paralysis of analysis that waits for the miraculous. Use them to battle the demonic forces that seek to engulf us.”
Unfortunately, as far as the GQP is concerned he may as well be spitting into the wind.
It will be interesting to see if the truck owner will be charged, in light of Texas law (section 9.41) allowing deadly force if necessary to prevent theft/recover property under certain circumstances when “property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means.”
“I know that it’s frustrating, but please do not take matters into your own hands,” said Officer Nick Soliz, an SAPD public information officer.
I hate ‘Pranksters’. If I wrote laws, I’d make the practice a felony and fine any medium that allows their videos to be uploaded.
That said, shooting people is a stupid response.
And that said, I’m not at all surprised that this happened.
Obligatory movie quote: “Dyin’ ain’t much of a livin’, boy.” - The Outlaw Josey Wales
Jackass gave the wrong message to the wrong people. Pranks can be amusing among friends who will take it in stride and give as good as they get. They are almost never amusing when done to the unsuspecting public. (There are occasionally more “wholesome” public pranks that are okay.)
I’ve seen prank videos where someone jumps out of a dark alley to scare someone walking down the street. Those I expect will end in someone being shot, and honestly, I wouldn’t hold the shooter accountable.
According to the victim’s father, at the time they were just talking, and even if it was insulting or heated, shooting is not justified, and demonstrates the lack of self control of supposed lawful gun owners.
Be interesting to see the footage. If the pranker actually did anything physically to the shooter, then it may be a reasonable reaction. If all they were doing was talking, then it wasn’t.
And it takes a Florida man, specifically, a Florida sheriff, to set us correct on the cause of gun deaths:
“There are individuals out there viewing, and includes some of you media, that want to blame the one thing that has no ability or the capacity to commit the crime itself, and that’s the gun. These individuals committed the crime,” Woods told reporters.
&
“Our school districts, not just here, across this state and nation need to quit minimizing the actions of their students. Hold them accountable. That’s where the failure is,” Woods said.
So, it’s the fault of the schools. Who had that on their Bingo card?
So by his logic it would ok to own hand grenades, mortars, rocket launchers, tanks, and M-16’s. I need them to protect my family. Military-grade weapons don’t kill people, people kill people
