Sigh. Even if ALL gun sales were banned tomorrow, this country would still be awash in guns, guns, guns, and if reasonably well cared for, they last a LONG time. I happen to own a semi-auto .22 pistol that was made in 1938 and it still works perfectly.

Yes, but if you can’t just go to the gun store and get a new one, you may actually put your gun in a place it can’t easily be stolen. You may not sell it to some random guy who offers you cash for it.
The vast majority of those guns are kept somewhere safe, out of the hands of the criminal or the incompetent, only a small fraction end up in the hands of those who shouldn’t have them. If we didn’t have a constant fresh supply coming in, then keeping them out out of those hands becomes much easier.
And the rest of the school shootings are by students who are part of the system so the active shooter drills provide intel on the response to threats. They’re great training drills for the attackers.
Except that with 400 million or so guns in America, even a small fraction is an enormous number of guns.
Serbia is, according to the article, awash in guns. Here’s hoping they can make some good and practical steps toward gun control.
Which is why I emphasized the word, “students”. It’s an inadequate attempt to stem the flow. They have to do something 'cause the greedy shits elected to represent us don’t care and won’t do anything. They “care” about “babies” as long as they’re in utero. As soon as they’re born screw 'em. They need to pull themselves by their bootstraps and learn to duck.

This is in response to the 2nd school shooting. No bullshit about thinking about it or talking to their favorite fantasy sky-man. Just practical measures to prevent a repeat. Almost as if they actually care about their kids.

For 9 1/2 years, I said many times that if someone walked into a school with mostly black, Hispanic, and/or Muslim students, and shot a bunch of them, it would probably barely make a blip in the local news. (I heard this from several people who lived in the Denver region when Columbine happened.) I also hoped that my theory would never be proven right, or wrong.
