Singapore?
As long as you ignore places like China and Saudi Arabia…
If through the article you’d replace “White male” with “Jew” it would sound like something out of Mein Kampf.
You know that’s from the South African edition, right?
The reason white males come under attack is that when you play King of the Hill, you go for the person on top. White males have been on top for a long time. Stop whining about it.
Yes, it turns out that when talking about things like reparations, removing the context of cultural dominance does in fact change the context of the piece. Whodathunkit.
TIL that extraterritoriality, the Open Door Policy, and the Unequal Treaties never happened…
Informal/indirect imperialism is still imperialism.
TIL that Aramco never existed…
“TIL”?
“Today I Learned” - it’s a Reddit abbreviation.
Imperialism isn’t automatically a bad thing.
-
The author was musing about disenfranchising white men worldwide, so the specific edition of HuffPo doesn’t matter.
-
Fuck you. Bigotry is bigotry.
Pretty sure that it’s an attempt at A Modest Proposal style satire. If not its pretty silly for reasons other then the obvious - constitutional protection of freedom of expression does not extend to hate speech and there are a number of white conservative organisations (in particular Afriforum) with deep pockets and access to top legal minds who would not hesitate to initiate litigation.
That said, this is a pretty sad thread if a bunch of reactionary Americans have to look to an opinion piece on a minor SA news site written by an unknown MA philosophy student for an example of “Stupid SJW Bullshit of the Day”.
You mean, like it is in the US ?
Anyway, edumacate yerself, lev. Quite a few non-white greens out there. India, Japan, Tibet, Pakistan, South Korea, Egypt…
Anyone writing such “satire” about any other racial group would be crucified for it.
The Huffington Post is a pretty major outlet, actually, as shown by the fact it has a global reach.
In the vast majority of cases through history, it has been. Not sure what point you’re trying to make here.
Or, you know, an off-hand tweet by a B-list actor.
And it’s perhaps worth noting that these examples are linked by…
…
…?
No, really, what’s the connection between these two cases? Or any of the other cases in this thread? Do these people share a concrete ideology? Are they a member of the same political party?
This thread is a bit like a thread titled “Stupid Christian Idea Of The Day” that spends all day talking about the WBC. Except that this analogy only works if the Westboro Baptist Church is a bunch of utterly unconnected people across the world with no singular defining ethos or set of beliefs, and also if you become a member of the Westboro Baptist Church by having someone who hates Christians call you one.
What exactly do you mean by “crucified”? Be specific.
Are you being deliberately obtuse? I’m clearly talking about Huffingtonpost.co.za, the very site you linked to. It was only launched in the past year or so and has yet to build up a significant readership compared to major SA news sites such as News24, IOL and Timeslive. The size of the parent company or organisation is irrelevant to this discussion.
Funny how you went utterly silent when a minority was under attack. It’s almost as if you don’t care if that happens.
Ah, yes. The home of these stupid social justice warriors.
Is every instance of silliness now attributable to “social justice warriors”? What does this one have to do with “social justice”?
Then perhaps you should not rely on merely your racial prejudices and look at the GINI index values globally.
