Early in the Iraq war I posted a theory about Saddam’s “Old Lady Glasses Speech.”

I said that the reason it was performed from a notepad, in a sloppy setting and with Saddam wearing (ugly) glasses was because it was, in fact, a previously-taped rehearsal. Many Dopers, I’m happy to say, thought my theory was a good one.

Well, you did not back a loser, friends! Tonight on Charlie Rose, one of his guests, a Pentagon corresepondent, told Charlie – with sly “now it all makes sense” inflection – that we now know that the OLGS was, as I predicted, a taped rehearsal.

Sweet.
