mrAru had a messy job and didn’t want to mess up his clothing so je dug an old set of overalls out of a sea bag and the bedroom smelled like sub funk again. I hate to admit that I actually sort of have fond memories linked to the smell.:smack:
Not completely surprising, if for no other reason that — I confess I’m guessing here — the arrival of sub funk coincided with the arrival of mrAru.
I know that smell. It mostly comes from the amine (from the CO[sub]2[/sub] scrubbers), along with diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, and BO.
Last year, I went on a submarine tour with my son’s Boy Scout troop…some two decades after last serving on a sub. As soon as I got near the topside hatch and smelled the air blowing out, old memories just about overwhelmed me…

I was helping my mom clean out a storage shed she has, and moved a box and got blasted with Tent Funk from the old canvas tent we used to camp in. Brought back memories…
