Subliminimal Journalism

So because Fox news likes the term “War on Terror”, that means everything they present is “subliminal” and “patently dishonest”?

I’m confused.

I wrote that their covering Iraq under the red-blue “War on Terror” banner was subliminal and dishonest. Where did the “everything they present is subliminal/dishonest” come from?

It’s been there. It’s just that you noticed the Iraq thing, the other subliminal/dishonest stuff has in fact been slipping under your radar. OR, you have shitty radar.

I can see “subliminal”, MAYBE, if I squint just right and turn the lights down really low. But how, pray tell, is it “dishonest”?

Did you even read the rest of the posts in this thread?

The War on Terruhr was used in the context of OBL, Al-Qaeda, and Afghanistan. Sneaking Saddam and Iraq under it is tantamount to acting as a mouthpiece of the Government without questioning the evidence presented. At best that is journalistic “mal-integrity” and at worst, it deliberately misleads the public. About 50% of Americans believe 9/11 attacks involved Iraqis.

Never mind. I thought you were addressing the OP.

I cannot think of more examples right now, but as said earlier, I recall demeaning banners such as “Chirac Charade”. I also remember banners bordering on “UN: put-up-or-shut-up” while some reporter outside the UN was merely informing the news anchor of what developments are taking place amongst UN diplomats. The purpose of a news network should be to report the French stand or UN developments and then let the so-called analysts take cracks at it. While reporting facts it is dishonest journalism to put a blatant spin, positive or negative, on it.
(Leave alone the issue that the reporting itself is sometimes highly ethnocentric and jingoistic with words such as “we”, and “them” frequently thrown around)

Except the Administration has flat-out said that they want to go get Saddam as a part of their (idiotically-planned, mind you) War on Terror. Fox is just going with what Big Brother has told them.

I can see how it’s SLIMY and Infotainment, but frankly, nowadays I would consider that the norm rather than the exception.
