Subliminimal Journalism

The Administration through unrelenting rhetoric has a large fraction of the public believing Iraq is linked to 9/11. Fine, politicians are doing what they do best…obfuscate for personal gains.

CNN and MSNBC have their cutesy titles “Showdown with Saddam/Iraq/Blix/Mike Tyson/Micheal Jackson”. Fine, trying to make Life a video game. Infotaintment. Money.

But, Fox News covers Iraq under the tantalizing red-and-blue graphic which reads “War on Terror”. Ah, now I understand what’s going on. Patriotism. Subliminamislsm. Obfuscation. What are they really after?

Ratings.

Subliminal? Nothing subliminal about it.

I think jingoism is a more appropriate description.

Yeah, the OP’s a little subminimal.

'tis my first pit thread dammit
Seriously, slipping Iraq under the banner “War on Terror” usually following reports on OBL seemed a bit subliminal to me, given the attention quotient of most TV viewers. Throw in the red-blue colours too.

Fox News is neither subliminal nor journalism.

Discuss.

FOX != anything to be taken seriously. Utter crap. Don’t waste your time talking about them even.
Hey, maybe they’re like the monsters under the bed - ignore them and they’ll go away? hopeful

“There’s 3 kinds of advertising–liminal, subliminal, and superliminal.”

“What’s superliminal?”

(shouting out the window) “Hey you! Join the Navy!”

My favorite Fox News blast is a tie between the logo with a swastika replacing the “X” or the “Faux News–We lie, you comply” slogan.

Just jumping in to give props to a nice phrase I read in my fave commie rag yesterday…

“The war formerly known as the War on Terror.”

IMHO, the OP is sublimating a minimalist desire to be a limnologist.

How’s this for subliminal: One of the stations has the logo “Showdown Iraq” or whatever but the word Iraq has a star in the middle:

                                IR*AQ

hmmmm…AQ = Al Qaeda???

Jingo was always my favorite Beatle.

I haven’t liked him since he ate Meryl Streep’s baby.

Groan.

Pah ! You haven’t liked me since that Dopefest when I told you Sophie Ellis Bexter was the daughter of Deadly Doug

Idisagreecompletely withthe OP

Not really subliminal, I guess. Here’s a link to Fox News. Look at the reports under “War on Terror”. It’s all Iraq! This is patently dishonest journalism.
I also remember when the same channel was reporting news on the French position on war under the banner “Chirac Charade” or something more demeaning.

I don’t even remember that. Cognitive dissonance is a wonderful thing. Now I’ll never be able to see her without imagining Deadly Doug’s face groaning with sweaty pleasure. Ugh.

There’s nothing subliminal about it. More clear than that and they would be slapping people on the face. BTW, did CNN merge with E! Entertainement Television?

I thought it was subliminable?
