I think I know why that “custom title” thing might be happening to some folks.
Remember about a year ago, shortly after y’all had done a message board upgrade, and an option was mistakenly left in the user control panel to allow the user to set a custom title? As I recall, a bunch of us thought it was a fun toy and changed our titles. Well, the title gizmo was soon removed and the custom titles we had set were reset to plain old “member”. Might the problem user IDs be those of us who had custom titles reset by the admins way back then?

Astro, you’re a charter member now. I think you’re right, Max; there’s apparently a bunch of people who are set to have custom titles, that I don’t remember giving custom titles. (We give custom titles when people want to take a break but still have their name say “member”.)

Yeah, I was one who changed my title back then. For a brief and shining moment, I was the Kvetchmeister. Those were the good old days. Or it was a good old day. Or something. I hope that they do eventually enable custom titles. This is kind of pathetic, but I’d totally pay extra to have Kvetchmeister under my name again.
Thanks to whoever fixed me. For some reason, I felt enormously relieved when I finally saw “Charter Member” under my name.
