Nothing official. He just gave her the bad news heads-up as soon as he got on the boat. She knew it was gonna happen even if it hadn’t yet.
Yeah, he did, but just barely, and with a gesture, not in so many words. But she got the message.
Fair point
Thanks; it may be enough that she was never actually fired to save them from her suing them.
Anyone feel bad for Logan? I don’t. I felt bad for the kids, and that came and went, but not at all for Logan. He ended up exactly where he was going.
I felt terrible for the kids. That was harrowing. Really well-acted by everyone.
Was i the only one yelling at the TV, “Someone go get Connor, for fuck’s sake!”?
That poor son of a bitch. Forgotten about at his own wedding by his own siblings.
Yeah, I thought that too. Easy time to lose your head though. And they only got Shiv because Tom was on the phone.
There’s a lot to unwind with Tom in this episode. There’s a moment when the suits all get off the plane and Tom’s conspicuously standing on the tarmac all alone. It struck me how he had a foot in both the family and the corporate side of things, but now he’s on the verge of being out of both. Just a great image to show Tom’s isolation.
His call to Greg was just brilliant writing and acting. Taking about Logan’s death he goes through three stages of “Tom” in one minute: Help me cover up malfeasance, I’m genuinely heartbroken, make sure everyone knows i was with him when he died so i look important.
Do we know anything about what Greg is supposed to delete? Cruise related things, or random shit he has to destroy ASAP in case he loses access?
I think that Connor will end up being the only happy sibling in the end because he will get as far away from the rest of them as possible.
Speaking of Connor, I wonder if he gets a sympathy polling boost.
I would have enjoyed the episode a lot more had it not been spoilered for me by multiple people multiple times half an hour after it ended on twitter. With pictures. I wasn’t expecting it to be such a big deal that I had to stay offline until I watched it. And people were doing that coy “I’m not saying exactly what happened” but it was super easy to figure out. They couldn’t just say “Wow, that episode was fantastic”. No, it was “I can’t believe they did the thing and here’s a picture of the kids looking sad”. So the dramatic tension of “is this it? Here in e3? no, it can’t be!” was gone for me.
I do see how it was very expertly done and kudos all around to the writers and actors and director. But screw you, fellow fans. Be more vague or stfu entirely, at least for a few hours.
Nah, that’s on you. Twitter isn’t a private conversation with a friend that knows you’re going to watch it.
uh, no it’s not on me. People were pretending to do the “i’m not spoiling it” thing while spoiling it. I don’t even know what time it airs on hbo, as I watch it on max later. People can be excited and talk about it. But being specific WITH PICTURES, especially from the people I follow, is rude.
Agreed. Don’t go on social media when you are trying to stay unspoiled on a buzzy show. People want to talk about a major twist in the show right after it airs.
Like maybe Facebook is a place where you can avoid these things, but Twitter is exactly the place to discuss these things real time.
I know to avoid social media because I’ve been watching the episodes on Monday nights, but last night I saw Brian Cox on the main page of the NYTimes app. There were no spoilers in the headline, but it was pretty obvious what was gonna happen. I expected Logan Roy to drop dead this season (It’s called Succession, after all) but I thought it would happen much later. Oh well.
The Los Angeles Times thought it would be clever to run a fake obituary for Logan Roy –
“Logan Roy, conservative media mogul who shaped contemporary politics, dies at 84”
right after the episode was released and without any attempt at a spoiler warning.
Still watching it and this is one of the most vicious episodes of television ever. My God.
The Ringer’s weekly “five best insults from this episode of Succession” could easily have been expanded to thrice that with those targeting Tom the runaway leaders.
