Tom had to have walked away from Karl with grill marks on his hindquarters.
In the unlikely event of Tom surviving and gaining real power, he has a lifetime of vengeance to dole out.
Marcia has impressed me as the most Logan-like. Just an absolute shark, from her post-Rhea arrangement with Logan to her brutally dispensing of Kerri and selling Conor the apartment for 63 million a mere day after Logan died.
She may ultimately finagle the top seat away from both the kids and the suits.
This was a great episode, love how Tom is being left hung to dry. Really don’t understand why they would give Shiv a pregnancy and likely miscarriage in the same episode, but I feel that will be of importance in the future.
Kendall was channeling his inner Logan at the end there. Logan would have definitely thrown his father under the bus. Though Roman ain’t going to be happy.
Oh yeah, I forgot about his secret meeting with Hugo. That’s not going to go over well at all with any of his siblings or the suits. Hugo may well be fucked too, between this covert assignment and his daughter’s insider trading.
The more I think about it though, I think Marcia wins the game of thrones here. She has the goods on Kendall in regard to the dead waiter. And Roman’s little moment of compassion toward Kerry by the elevator isn’t going to go over well with the Lebanese widow.
“Call her a cab to the subway so she can go home to her little apartment.” Damn, Marcia, that’s ice!
And I had to look up the exact wording, but there was that line from Marcia to Rhea: “I have fought and I have lost, and I have fought and won, but when I lose, the other one will generally lose an eye or a soul.”
Marcia’s got what it takes to be the next Logan. Cold and fucking ruthless.
The one thing that I’m puzzled by is when Frank showed Karl the memo Logan wrote, Karl (I believe) said he didn’t want to let that “little princess” get ahold of it all. I wonder what that was about. My immediate thought was Shiv, but…could it have originally named Kerri? After it came out that the memo mentioned Kendall, I just thought Karl was just using emasculating language toward Kendall, but now I wonder if the doctored memo may have been doctored (or just completely re-written) by Frank and Karl, thinking Kendall would be a better person to deal with? Is the existence of the memo why Kerri was so desperate to get upstairs?
Also, Greg the Egg thinking he could’ve been Ken’s #2!
Love that guy! Get him a spinoff!
The memo had Logan’s handwriting on it, so I’m going to assume it is genuine.
And, to your point, Greg is going big because he’s almost assured of going home.
Sure, it’s possible. But the use of “princess” still has me wondering. I mean, it’s not hard to replicate a man’s handwriting when he’s no longer around to say it’s a forgery.
Assuming the memo is a Logan relic from 4 years ago, I bet the ‘little princess’ is Marcia.
And there are enough people who knew Logan’s handwriting who viewed it, and none of them threw out any objections.
I rewatched it and I think he’s referring to Geri. Karl’s next line is regarding if Geri is going to force him out, etc.
Remember Geri and Karl were going at it in the china closet before hand.
I’m not going to get into the weeds on this, but it’s really not that hard to do a “good enough” forgery of a few words that will pass most sniff tests. I think between Karl and Frank and some samples of Logan’s writing laying around, they could do it good enough to accomplish some hand-wringing and manipulation among the sibs and other suits.
I thought about that too. And yeah, how he mentioned Gerri right after the princess remark would suggest Gerri was the one named.
What a relief for Shiv that she got an ironclad secret verbal promise from her brothers not to freeze her out…
Perhaps. But the show gave us zero indication that anyone thought the note was a forgery, and the note was presented to the Board as a sign of Logan’s wishes, which is why Ken got the (interim) job. So if it’s a forgery, it’s Ken’s forgery, and nothing shown us goes towards evidence of that.
I do like that just how the Roy kids are going at each other, so are the old guard. I wonder if we could see shifting alliances. Maybe Frank tries to get in with Kendall while Shiv tries to make common cause with Gerri?
And Tom is, of course, left in the middle “willing to serve”. Neither side likes him, but he does seem to have some skills.
It’s not really even a question of forging. Logan typed Kendall’s name in the memo. If he had crossed him off at some point and penciled another name in (Shiv, Kerri, Geri), Frank and Karl would’ve only needed to erase the "little princess’ " name if they felt Kendall would be the lesser evil.
But did you see the “underlining” of Kendall’s name? It really could have been a strikethrough. It was about half and half.
Yeah, i think it was likely a strike-through. Why would Logan revisit a memo and underline a name he had already typed in? He was likely revisiting it and crossing off Kendall’s name. Now the question is, did he pencil someone else in, only to have Frank and Karl erase the little princess’ name before anyone else could see it?
I think Kendall realizes he was crossed off too, and not underlined. He looked at it up close on his phone, then marched over to Hugo and plotted to smear the old bastard one last time.
It was a great episode, and season so far. Nothing to add, but do like reading everyone’s comments
