Suddenly can't see YouTube comments anymore

A couple hours ago, my Firefox has gone into this weird mode where it won’t let me view any YouTube comments anymore. I’ve clicked on over a dozen videos to see what the issue is, and each time it will say something like “394 comments” or “25 comments” but I can’t see any of them. Anyone know what this is about?

I’ve logged out and logged back in, turned Restricted Mode on and off, nothing works.

Virus?

Please, please, please, for the love of God, tell the rest of us how you managed to do that!

Don’t know if it’s related but, yesterday I got a message asking if I wanted a free trial of YouTube music streaming app. I think YouTube may be changing some things.

So someone else tells me he can’t see YouTube comments either. Any Dopers here have a similar issue? He suggested this is a YouTube-wide glitch at the moment.

Google Chrome, no problem. They’re all there. Still. Dammit.

Did notice something similar last night and on quick check it is still happening. However it seems more like it just needs an extra minute to load - scrolling up and down seems to eventually bring them up. I primarily use Firefox as well.

OK, they’re back now for me. Had been gone for a few hours. weird.

Mine disappeared briefly this evening, but they came back. I’m guessing it’s something to do with the technical activities related to removal of private messages from the creator studio (YT is retiring the PM feature)

I couldn’t load any You Tube comments in any browser on any of my devices for about an hour this evening. I checked the down detector site and it seemed to be happening all over. It appears to be fixed now.

Really. Considering the typical quality of a YouTube comment, I would consider that a feature.

When part of YouTube goes down for maintenance, comments are among the first thing lost. They are always loaded later, after the video itself. I’ve occasionally hit brief periods where I could not get comments, but other people could–I think it has to do with where we are geographically located.

Oh, no! Rampant system-wide civility has broken out!

Didn’t someone here have a kid who asked his dad to show him “this Dope website” he hangs out at? And the kid’s analysis was “Huh, it’s like if YouTube comments were written by college professors.”
