And now I have Tapatalk adverts again. This is very odd.
Mine never went away (Android). In fact now they seem to be multiplying. At first it was just at the top or bottom of each forum or thread page. Now it’s more like half a dozen per page.
It kind of reminds me of Microsoft Solitaire games. You can pay for a “premium” ad-free version, and I swear they make the ads so annoying and intrusive that they figure you’ll just cave and give them money to make it stop. But it has the opposite effect on me, it just makes me want to stay away altogether.
At least the Tapatalk ads aren’t auto-playing video ads. Yet.
Bumping this thread because I saw that Tapatalk had updated overnight, and so far I have not seen any ads this morning. Are other Tapatalk users seeing the same thing?

I think you need to have Tapatalk VIP to be ad free. After an update sometimes you have to restore purchases on Tapatalk to get your subscriber status back.
I don’t have VIP, and was seeing plenty of ads yesterday. I have not seen a single one so far today. Nothing in the forums, nothing in the threads. The only thing that looks unusual is on the main page, under the BBQ Pit forum. It says “Loading” with the spinning cursor, like it is trying to load something. Maybe an ad, but nothing ever loads.
Hey, I’m not complaining! I’m glad to have my ad-free SDMB back, and hope it stays that way.
I see in this latest update for Android that Tapatalk “improved” their UI by removing many of the English language labels and replacing them with meaningless icons. And changing the names of many more labels.
Ads for me first appeared about a month ago and were visible as recently as yesterday. And don’t seem to be there today.
The tectonic plates are shifting. I hope it doesn’t open a supervolcano of ads once the plates settle into their new position.
The updated Tapatalk is doing some funky things when displaying quoted posts. Anyone else notice some weirdness?
I’ve noticed the weird quote thing too. And this morning, the ads are back. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.
(I had to power down and restart my phone this morning, and I’m guessing that may have had something to do with the ads reappearing.)

I paid for tapatalk a few years ago, and they killed the version i paid for and asked me to pay again. Not buying it. I also don’t like a lot of the changes they’ve made in how it works.
But mostly, I don’t trust them.

Same here. I already paid for Tapatalk once. I’m not paying again. I wonder how long before ads start showing up in the VIP version, then you will have to pay $50 to upgrade to their ad-free “Platinum” version. :rolleyes:
