I just made my first post since today’s updates, and noticed that the title under my name has changed from “Charter Member” to “Member.” Is this part of the changes? Are people’s titles now going to reflect when they signed up, as has been rumoured?
(Not bothered one way or the other, just curious. :))
(On preview I noticed that the title of a new thread appears now, too – very nice!!)
Heh. I checked in another thread. I had nothin’.
I posted the above. I was a member.
I tried to post a comment about this and was informed that I can’t post that often.
As I type this, there’s nothin’ under my name.
The suspense is killing me.
Jerry informs me that the system is still in the process of updating. This is a process that has been ongoing since 1:00 p.m. his time and will likely take hours . . .a lot of hours. Like not completed until sometime tomorrow.
When the process is complete, everyone should have a title. Some will say “Charter Member.” Some will say “Member.” There’s other titles, depending on whether that poster has privileges or not, but those two titles are the ones that mostly apply.
The only inference to be made from these titles is that a Charter Member signed up when we first opened for subscriptions, and a Member came along after that original window of opportunity closed. That’s all it means.
So please don’t get your boxers in a twist or your panties in a wad or whatever it is that happens when you get upset, this will all work out in some hours. It’s a big system and a lot of stuff to grind through.
It’s a minor sop to the people who were here before it went pay and were part of the core community that convinced those who came later to pay. I think it’s somewhere between harmless and mildly beneficial, and I hope the distinction is maintained.
(And maybe we’ll be allowed to form a House of Lords and have drunken brawls.)
