Then it might be a plan to turn down your brightness and contrast. I rarely have mine higher than half and they’re usually even lower. I promise you I’m seeing no white - everything that’s not blue or black is light grey.
At some point shortly after a board upgrade or restore from backup in the past, there was a dropdown box available for choosing the skin/theme - IIRC there were only two themes available (something like ‘SDMB’ and ‘SDMB Modified Blue’) and one of them didn’t work properly.
Dunno why I bothered mentioning that.
In any case, it couldn’t be that hard to implement a few choices here - especially if they’re just tweaks to colours, leaving the graphical elements alone.
OTOH, the colouring of this board is almost a trademark, so that might be a reason not to change it.
I understand. That’s why I used the plural: alternative color schemes. Not everyone is alike.
Me too, but light text on a dark background would be just as contrasting.
Then you’re fortunate that the default color scheme suits you. I’m happy for you.
Nothing would change unless you changed it for yourself. The reasons to offer a choice, however, seem self-evident.
At one point we did have some alternate schemes but they went away in an upgrade and we have not been able to reinstitute them.
