Suggestions for Gameboy Advance

I bought one on Thursday (the SP not the first one), picked up a copy of Super Mario World Advance and Pokemon Ruby and I have my eyes set on getting Advance Wars.
Does anyone have any other decent game suggestions for this platform?

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is good. It is basically an action game with RPG elements, and it will suck up plenty of gaming hours.

There is a GBA Metroid that my friends recommend, but I don’t remember the exact name of the game.

You’re thinking of Metroid Fusion. From the few reviews I’ve read it’s just Super Metroid (same graphics from the eighties) with a plot.

I’d highly recommend Golden Sun, if you are into RPG games. Although a sequel has just been released, you’ll appreciate it more (and it’s much cheaper) than the sequel. Another title you might enjoy is Legend of Zelda: A link to the past. However, if you played or finished this title on your SNES, you won’t get much (besides a decent multiplayer mode). I just thought i’d reply from the RPG/adventure game end of things.

Well, yeah. If you’re looking for a graphics powerhouse, you made a bad choice with the GBA. It’s predominately ports of SNES games, and games done in that style. Metroid Fusion is very much like Super Metroid, so whether or not you like the new game depends entirely on whether you like the first one.

My favorite GBA games so far are Pokemon, Advance Wars, and Super Puzzle Fighter II.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater is a remarkably good port of the game for the handheld, and is surprisingly fun. You have to like the console versions of that game to enjoy it, though.

I’ve heard lots of good stuff from friends about Warioland 4, but haven’t tried it myself. And the Zelda game Link to the Past is supposed to be good, but it’s a direct port of the SNES game. I’m not a fan fo the Zelda games so again, I haven’t tried it.

Golden Sun is a complete console-style RPG, and a friend of mine raves about it. I’m not sure I have that kind of patience.

Personally, I’m holding out for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which is the main reason I got a GBA SP. I tried Tactics Ogre hoping for it to be the same thing, and it’s a fine game but it just moves too slowly to interest me.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

  1. Golden Sun

  2. Golden Sun: The Lost Age(just released)

  3. Advance Wars(good choice)

  4. Metroid Fusion

  5. Zela: A Link to the Past(if you DIDN’T play it on SNES)

  6. Konami Krazy Racers

  7. Super Monkey Ball, Jr.(if you like puzzle games).

  8. Tactics Ogre(actually, if you like strategy games, this and Advance Wars are the first two you should get).

  9. Zelda: The Four Swords(twice as fun with a friend)

  10. WTA Tennis(if you like tennis at all).

Tactics Ogre should probably be higher on the list, but I thought of it late. It is a short game, but excellent. Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced comes out relatively soon, so get that as well.

Honorable mentions go to: Disney Basketball(but not the other Disney Sports games), Super Mario Advance, Mario Kart, Droopys Tennis Open(again, if you like tennis).

Buy a Gamecube if you don’t have one. Many games, including Zelda, Animal Crossing, and others have features only accesible through the GBA(the connecter cable is ultra cheap).

Let us know what you get. The GBA is the best portable system ever.

Game Boy Advanced Recommendations:
Numero Uno: Advanced Wars - One of the best tactical/strategic games out there. It has surprising depth to almost match PC strategy games. Kind of similiar to Hero’s of Might and Magic except with Subs, Tanks, and Bombers.

Castlevania - Harmony of Dissonance is a very good action game. Very similiar to Symphony of the Moon for the Playstation

Legend of Zelda - Link to the Past - Excellent port of the SNES game.

Now if they would only port Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger to the GBA…

Advance Wars. Nothing else compares. Since you already intend to get this game, I hereby declare this thread useless.

Advance Wars freaking rules. But beware–the game is HARD. You may wish to get the free strategy guide they have at www.gamefaqs.com if you want to remain sane.
