Suggestions for stress relief needed

OK. It is 48 hours until the Advanced Placement European History test, and my students are as prepped as they are going to be. They are honed, toned, and ready to rock. I, on the other hand, am a wreck. What if I prepped them on the wrong areas? What if I didn’t link something that is a key part of an essay? What if the sky falls Friday morning? AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Right now, I can’t eat. I’m not hungry (which is rare in itself! :smiley: ) and nothing appeals to me. I am snappish, rude, and just posted a really stupid topic in a hostile manner over in GD. I need to chill…badly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What can I do to RELAX???

Oh, yeah. The wife is in Boston and I already drink. That kinda eliminates my first two choices… :smiley:

Maybe you could try meditation? That usually helps me relax when I am super stressed out. :slight_smile:

I used to favor Primal Scream in high school (I went to a very stressful high school).

Find someplace where loud noises will not be noticed, take a deep breath and scream as hard and as long as you can, until you run out of breath to do so. There’s something cathartic about it.

It’s even better with friends, because once you’re done screaming your lungs out you all start laughing at each other. :slight_smile: The whole class might enjoy it… bet they’re stressed too.

Go ride a motorcycle.

Play a game or something. I have two AP tests this week (calculus, which was this morning and was, uh, yeah, let’s not talk about it; and English lit tomorrow) and I’ve been playing ping-pong all day and trying not to worry about the tests.

Go out to dinner with a friend or something. Or take a walk on the beach, if you’re near a beach.

By the way…it’s comforting to see a teacher worried about his/her students! Some of my teachers are more concerned with just getting through the obligatory material so THEY can rest than about their students passing…

Exercise. Go for a walk, or a run, or a swim, get your heart beating and some sweat going. Always helps my stress levels.

I don’t want to sound crass, but an orgasm or three always helps me relax. Bigtime.

I’d like to second the exercise suggestion, good for both body and mind.
