Sultantheme's quoting is italic

Recently I wanted to stress a word in a post by italicizing it, and noticed in that thread that where posters were quoting others, the posts they were quoting were automatically italicized, so if someone were to stress a word or phrase by italicizing, that point could be lost.

However, if it’s a quote not specified to another poster, the quote doesn’t get italicized (except for the part the poster intended by using the correct code).

If you’re in Sultantheme’s now, here’s an example:

In both quotes above, I used quote tags only around “thwack”, but since the personalized quote automatically comes out italicized, the difference can’t be seen. Could it be fixed so that quotes aren’t automatically italicized in Sultantheme or is that a job for the folks at vBulletin? The lost emphasis could be interpreted as misquoting.

Although your post appears to provide more information.
Still, it apparently hasn’t been fixed.

I’ve taken to underlining for emphasis rather than italicizing, for this reason.

Does bolding still work as expected? Let me check:
Direct quote

Unattributed quote

That seems to work fine. Of course, it’s a problem if the quote used bold itself, but the same problem exists with any editorial emphases, including italics.

I find the difference between “attributed” and “not attributed” fascinating. It’s probably a valuable clue to where the problem lies, and I hope the web techie fixing this issue gets this piece of information.
