Summer Fun in the MMP!!

Mawnin all,

Roller Derby Day, up caffinating and hongry.

302? Mmmmmmmm.

Back in a bit.

Jim

My laundry’s done and there is an end in sight for the Neverending Teal and Purple Blanket!

Unsuccessful crab monitoring this morning - I drove over to get there 30 minutes early as required, but he came in 40 minutes before he’d scheduled, and by the time I got there, he was gone. I still get paid, but bummer. There’s another guy coming in at a different ramp at 1 - I’m going to look up the directions and try to catch him. Oh the excitement!!

Howdy Y’all! We had a successful mornin’ at the farmer’s market. I got a watermelon, two cantaloupes (can’t find my ladder), twenty pounds each of butterbeans an green beans, and ten pounds of squash. The butterbeans were already shelled which suits me cause I hates shellin’ ‘em. The green beans are all snapped, and the squishes are all cut up. Everything is in the freezer in quart bags. Plus the watermelon and cantaloupes (can’t find my ladder) are all chunked up. Been a bzzy mornin’!

OYKW went down to the local Chinese takeout place and swiped the General’s N.O.L. which has been ingested. Life is good.

MOOOOOOM I can hardly stand the excitatement!

Ummmm, iffn you’re 302’d in Pee Aay, you’re not coming back for (48? or) 72 hours. You’ll be spending your time in a place with nice soft walls (given that they’re padded).

That’s the code for involuntary commitment.

Booting up for what promises to be an annoying day at work. I’m used to closing on Saturday, but when you throw in a sale on about half the clothing in the store (eligible items are by what color the plastic thingie holding the price tag is. We have eight colors, which rotate by week, four are eligible for the drastic markdown), it’s gonna be a pain. We’ve had signage up for several days clearly stating the sale is “Saturday, August 16”. Someone had to highlight which day that sale was, because customers were “confused” about that point and thought the sale had already started (I’m skeptical that the confusion was real in all cases, after dealing with our selection of hagglers and would-be scammers).

Now that it’s the sale day, I predict much confusion, genuine or otherwise, over which colors get the sale price, whether (for example) a tag is pink (not on sale) vs. red (is on sale), along with tantrums because the item the customer wants isn’t on sale. Especially if what they want isn’t clothing anyway.

Throw in building anxiety over the back-to-school bit, and it’s not shaping up to be a great day so far.

Well Spidey, that is not too far off the mark for me anyway

Jim

And monitoring #2 was also a bust, altho I didn’t have to drive as far. I was about halfway there when the text came across that the waterman came in 45 minutes earlier than he’d scheduled. Since I was near the WaWa in Charlotte Hall, I filled the car. **FCD **called and he wanted me to pick him up - judging for the bikes won’t be till 5.

We had lunch, and he’s napping right now. In about 90 minutes, I’ll take him back to the fairgrounds. Somewhere along the line, I’ll bring in the laundry, and I still need to empty the dishwasher. Exciting, huh?

Starting to seem to me like the crabbers are intentionally giving wrong times.

Ah Saturday  I gets to do laundry. Lots and lots and lots. If you are a married male person who does laundry, please raise your hand. Imma taking an informal MMP poll. My theory is that the skill is lost when vows are exchanged. Maybe only at my house. Le sigh.

Sunny-son doesn’t admit to liking school but he did get to play with worms in class on Friday. Oddly enough, he was the only boy who had previously played with worms. Hmm… I have trouble keeping my kids out of mud. But then I like it that they play outside. You know, that place with no walls or air conditioning or, gasp, TV! I guess other kids are a bit more sheltered. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wabbit - welcome!

FCM - I am jealous on the crab front, although it sounds wayyyyy annoying that they are never there. Suspicious too. Hmmmm.

We are getting solar installed. My last Utility bill was $1000 (yes). I can’t do it no more. It will be the lease, but we save sooooooo much money that we’re going ahead. About 3 weeks to solar.

72 Amurkin, with a high of 92. No rain. Of course. I project cement pond time in my future.

Happy weekend y’all!

Howdy y’all! In from cee-mint pond time. I imagine OYKW will come in shortly. Anywho, I’ve had a shower. The water was nice but it’s hawt out! OYKW mentioned sump’n about pizza for dindin. Fine by me. I’ll order if’n he’ll go fetch.

ETA: First on Six!

It’s not unusual that the crabbers come back early. Either they had a really good catch, so they want to get them to market, or they had a really crappy catch and they gave up early. And, to be fair, their scheduled return time is an estimate. Some are better than others at estimating. Last year, we had some who were always late, some who never bothered to log back in till later in the evening. I sat at a ramp in the hot sun for hours one afternoon, only to discover that the crabber had come back in long before I got there.

It’s an imperfect world… But I still get $70 when I leave the house, so as long as they don’t call back in before I leave to meet them, I get paid.

Yes, dd, I do laundry.

Howdy all! Glad that it’s Saturday, if only for having a different schedule today. LOL To a retiree, though, there’s not much difference between the weekend and a weekday, 'cept on Sunday, that is.

My left leg is actually doing pretty good; we’re not bandaging it any longer and it is finally healing up crosses fingers & other appendages The right leg, according to my home health nurse, is actually starting to look better as well (the healing had been stalled there); they are both still painful but I’m able to mostly control it with OTC pain meds. Narcotics scare me; I’m not allergic, that I know, but I took some once on an empty stomach and got terrible dry heaves… enough said. I was afraid to take it on a full stomach like you’re supposed to, after that!

In other news, someone sent me a friend request on facebook, and I went ahead and friended them, but now cannot figure out who it is. This person has looked at most of the photos I have up online, a lot of family ones including my Mom, and commented on the pics as if she knew me. I have no idea who it is!! It’s an older woman, about my age, it could be someone I knew as a child. I messaged her, asking who she was, but never got a reply. I’m stumped as to what to do. She’s not harming anything, just … well, I don’t know who it is. LOL Then, there is my brothers ex-girlfriend…she is still on my friend’s list, I’m afraid to de-friend her because she might take it out on my brother. She comments on my posts as well, probably to piss off my other brothers. :frowning: Grr… I should just de-friend her. I have un-followed her.

I guess those are minor problems, when you consider the over-all world picture. I should be happy that’s all I’m worried about! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Swampy, I do envy you the trip to the Farmer’s Market - you’ve got all the things I’m wanting this weekend! LOL I shall have some next week, hopefully.

One married male does laundry (makes tally mark)

FCM I clink stubbornly to my suspicions  OK fine - you are right. I just want crab! Yummmm.

The kids are next door playing with the neighbors. It’s so quiet. I can even hear the dog snoring!

My DH does some of the laundry.

Pizza ordered and OYKW has gone to fetch. Nuttin’ like a well trained boyfriend.

**Sunny **- I want crabs, too, but they’re crazy expensive! The harvests last year and this year have been way below normal. I understand some restaurants are getting $100/dozen!!! Not to be too much of a geezer, but I remember my grandfather complaining about having to spend $6/dozen when I was a kid. Last time we got any was several years ago, and we paid $25. That wouldn’t have been too horrible, but I don’t like the way they steam them in southern MD - they go with a salt-based recipe. I grew up with the pepper-based recipe and that’s what I prefer. Alas…

And my spousal unit did the laundry when I was working, but honestly, I prefer to do it myself. It’s not like it’s a hard job - shove the stuff in the washer with some soap and softener, hang the stuff on the lines, take the stuff down and fold it, put it away. And if it’s nasty weather, toss it in the dryer, then fold and put away. I prefer to fold my own things - they have to be done a certain way to fit in the small drawers of my dresser. I try to separate our clothes when I hang them out - that way if **FCD **helps me take them down, he can take down and fold his own stuff and we’re not in each other’s way.

No supper here tonight - we had a big late lunch. Snackage later, but that will be it.

Yard mowage tomorrow morning. The guy who’s buying all the aquarium stuff is coming at 8 tomorrow to start transferring the livestock. Not sure when he’ll take everything - he has to come up with $740 more. That’s too much to just say “Take it and pay us when you’ve got it.” Especially for a stranger. Anyway, tomorrow, the fishies, corals, and live rock all go. Which means the tanks will be emptied, which means they’ll have to be cleaned. ugh.

Never a dull moment.

Howdy all. Back from visiting my folks. I won’t call it a vacation cause it wasn’t. We went to Hiawassee Ga where my oldest sister lives. She lives I’m a beautiful large home right on top of a mountain. If you step out the back door it’s a long drop to a lake. The lake is Lake Chatuge and her neighbors took us for a pontoon boat ride at sunset. The lake is completely surrounded by mountains and was beautiful.

I visited my other sister in West Ga. She is near Rome. She is trying to finish the basement in her house so we stayed an extra day while hubby did some electrical wiring for her installing outlets, lights and a ceiling fan. She fed us well.

I saw my brothers too. One brother James had just had back surgery so was confined to the house. My other brother Jimmy has cancer of the tonsils and was just diagnosed. I am worried about him. He will have chemo and radiation. I guess surgery is not an option.

My precious Lucky Louie dog went with us and was so good. We put about 2200 miles on the car in a week. We got home yesterday so I can still have the weekend to get rested up before I go back to irk on Monday.

**Butters **- sounds like just the break you needed, despite all the driving. I’m glad you got a chance to get away!
