Some of my favorite shows are the “summer series” that are just about to start up.
Here is a link to what is starting up in May, June and July - with a few new ones briefly described.
Looking forward to Royal Pains, Burn Notice, White Collar, Leverage, Suits, Covert Affairs, Rizzoli and Isles and yes, I will even tune in to see what they have done with Dallas. (At least for one or two shows…)
I wish I could see Damages, but don’t have Direct TV and will have to hope they show that on another channel some day - it is a great series and I was pissed when it moved far, far away from my reach.
Thanks. I signed on this morning to figure out when Royal Pains returning. I’m glad to see the dates for Drop Dead Diva (which I surely would have missed) and The Closer as well.
Jesus, what a fucking wasteland. I guess i’ll be getting some reading and beachgoing done over the summer.
We’ll probably watch Damages, but to be honest the last couple of seasons haven’t been anywhere near the quality of the first one. We’ll watch the last 6 episodes of The Closer.
About the only one i’m really looking forward to is Breaking Bad, and even then i’m annoyed because they’re breaking up a single season over two years, so we only get 8 episodes this year.
I caught an episode of On the Fly – reality show set in an airport – there’s something about rude customers that entertains me, and makes me glad I’ve never had to work with a paying public.
I’m looking forward to both of those as well as Weeds which Premiers in July. Another one I’m looking for to is Dexter which won’t be back till September.
I’ll check it out. Is it scripted? There’s a show with a process server – it had promise, but it was obviously scripted. Practiced rudeness isn’t much fun.
Same here, especially the free-to-air networks. We hardly set foot in free-to-air network TV at all anymore.
We watch 30 Rock and Modern Family, but that’s about it. I’ve heard that Parks and Recreation and Community are pretty good, but they sort of passed us by, and if we decide to give them a try now, we can do it on Netflix.
Apart from that, about the only time the Big 4 networks are on in our household is on Sundays during football season (i don’t have NFL Network), and for 10 minutes on Monday nights so we can watch Headlines on Leno. I watch baseball online for the most part, through my MLB.com subscription, and we get most of our news from various internet sources.
AuntiePam, i don’t think Parking Wars is scripted. I don’t think it takes much effort for people to get genuinely angry about getting a ticket, or having their car booted or towed. I’m not arguing that it’s a great show or anything; i mainly watch it on Netflix to pass the time if i’m doing some work that doesn’t need all my concentration. One thing i do like about it is seeing the neighborhoods of Philadelphia; it reminds me a lot of when i lived in Baltimore, and is so different from southern California, where i am now. I’m also impressed at how philosophical some of the parking authority workers are about all the abuse they get. I guess you’d need to develop a thick skin pretty quickly in that job.
I’ll be watching Hell’s Kitchen and Lizard Lick Towing for sure. Started watching Men at Work, found it underwhelming, but I’ll give it a chance to develop.
Looks like the week of June 24th will be the money week for me: Aaron Sorkin’s Newsroom on HBO, and then the return of Louie and Wilfred on FX. Plus, Wipeout. Also looking forward to another set of ridiculous plot twists on Burn Notice.
