It’s about 64° and the windows have been open all night - what a rarity in July!!! I let **FCD **sleep in and I’ve tended to the critters. It’s a lovely Sunday morning here at FairyChatEstates!
My big plan for today is to seed a rather large bare patch on the side hill. We bought a few bags of topsoil the other day plus one of those biodegradable mats that one puts over grass seed. I’ll churn up the soil/clay of the bare spot, dump on the topsoil, fling some seed, then cover it all with the mat. Then I’ll turn on the sprinkler for a little bit, just to settle it all in. We’re expecting rain tomorrow so no need for a marathon watering session. If I have any leftovers, there’s a patch in the back yard that needs the same treatment.
Beyond that, I’m going to try to finish the quilted pieces today. FCD got the turn signal lights he needed and once he installs them, we can line the bags with the quilt panels. And, eventually, we’ll have to close all the windows - the temp is supposed to rise 20° or so this afternoon.
Meanwhile, it’s quiet and cool - great way to start the day! Happy Sunday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 very muggy Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 98 for the day. Gonna be HAWT! Good day to stay in an air conditionin’.
Last night’s soiree was a success. Good food, good wine, good friends. We drank, we ate, we laughed and everybody went away around eight-thirty. After they left we loaded the dishwasher and then crashed. I pulled an all nighter. Didn’t get up even once to go pee!
Today we deheathenate Luterun style. Or at least I will. Dunno if’n OYKW will arise for that or not. I am a Lector (the readin’ kind) this mornin’.
Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, purtification for Luterun deheathenization must commence.
I ran our blanket and a small afghan thru the wash and they’re out on the line - still covered in dog and cat hair, alas, but maybe they won’t trigger my allergies.
The seeds are sown. They’re from last year and they’ve been sitting in the shed - hope at least some of them germinate.
The humidity is brutal already! I wasn’t out there an hour, and I’m dripping sweat. Even after wiping my face, arms, and legs with a cold washcloth, I got very little relief. Alas, I’ll have to close the house up shortly and turn the air back on.
Howdy Y’all! Home from Luterun deheathenization. I like hangin’ with my Luterun friends from time to time. Plus, I had me some really, really, really, good pear crisp after deheathenization.
OYKW has gone to swipe the General’s N.O.L. He had a gnawin’ and a cravin’. Works for me.
doggio bein’ as the Communion Wine we use is a Port, I’d gladly swap it out for a nice Chianti. Da bear thinks Port is ick.
We’ve switched to sometimes using a Niagara; I’m still a merlot person myself.
We Lutherans may not be real good at taking a firm stand on anything but by golly we do eat really well.
Took advantage of the lack of rain and went to visit a church a couple counties over on the bike. And then took a scenic route home through Ohio and West Virginia. Sometimes tonight the rains return and I have to look at the car again.
I have no opinions about port one way or the other.
Just back from a nice hike to the upper falls at Graveyard Fields. I managed to get there before the parking lot filled up. Protip for hiking along the popular Blue Ridge Parkway Trails: get there around 10 and you’ll beat everyone else by an hour.
When my mom and I were on the cruise last summer, one side trip included Port tasting. It was very yum! Unfortunately, that particular brand is not available here. dammit.
I need to find hook-and-look tape with adhesive on one and sewable for the other. 4 yards max. 1-2" wide. Black. It’s been a challenge.
FCM, the only solution I can think of is to buy 4 yards of the type with adhesive on both sides and 4 yards of the sewable, and take one part of each. I know, kind of wasteful, but I’m not sure a better solution exists.
Unfortunately, most of the sites I’ve checked so far require a minimum purchase - some as much as 25 yards!!! That’s just nuts!! We might be able to work it with sewable, and use our own adhesive on one side. But I still don’t need 25 yards! The search will continue…
