Sunday casual breakfast in DC?

I’ll be there for a football game Sunday and would like to eat breakfast somewhere unique and not so crowded that I’ll have to wait an hour. Any Doper favorites?

ETA: maybe cafe society? Wasn’t sure.

I bet you could get a seat at the bar at Masa 14 on 14th Street if you get there relatively early. The brunch is not traditional, but totally fantastic. I see that it got the Best Brunch 2012 award from the DC City Paper, the local host for the Straight Dope column and other alternative news.

I looked up my favorite unusual breakfast place in DC to learn its exact address, only to find out that it closed down over ten years ago. Long time since I was hungry in DC, I guess. They had good biscuits.

I might check this out, though as a Redskins fan I’m slightly suspicious of your username. :). Thanks for the recommendation.

Another place that is a little more traditional, but super good Southern style brunch, and was not busy at all the time I went is Art and Soul on Capitol Hill. The chicken and waffles were awesome.

And I’m a 49ers fan.

What part of town will you be in? Lots of restaurants all over, and Sunday brunch is quite popular these days. I’m also interested in others’ replies, as I’m new here.

Haven’t done brunch there, but Masa 14 is hands down my favorite restaurant in DC. It gets pricey, but the food is exquisite. It’s kind of out of the way, but I recently had brunch at Bardeo in Cleveland park, and it was delicious. And for something different, there is always the drag queen brunch at Nellie’s.

DC is a great brunch town, so you’ll find something wherever you are. I’d figure out what neighborhood you are planning to be in, and research from there.

I had a great brunch recently at Belga Cafe.

What neighborhood are looking to be in? If you are looking at H Street NE, Granville Moore’s, Liberty Tree and Argonaut all serve a brunch menu.

I ended up getting invited to someone’s house for breakfast, which was unexpected and pleasant! Next time I want to try these recs, however, particularly Masa 14. Thanks folks.
