Super Bowl 2008

Sigh. :frowning:

Congratulations to the :frowning: Giants :frowning: .

I have to say, Dio, even if the refs did slant the field (I didn’t catch a lot of the game), still the Patriots should have been able to overcome it, as they have all year. The Giants played their best, the Pats didn’t, and on this given Sunday the better team won.

Much as it gravels me to say it. :frowning:

And I would love to hear that Mercury Morris chokes to death while swigging champagne.

Most of the fixed officiating involves non-calls against gang-raping defensive backs, facemasks, and other illegal contact. They also rang up the Patriots a couple of times for false starts which were really caused by jumping D-Linemen.

The League was embarrassed about Spygate so obviously the word came down to screw the Pats. I think the packers were actually intended to b the desinated “champions” but they unexpectedly choked in the NFC final game. The officials can’t stop Favre from throwing game killing picks.

yeah, what he said. :frowning:

Shoulda checked on preview so I could add, “What bouv said.”

Good one!

Sounds like cynicism curdling into nihilism. Every team does it, huh? You got any proof of that? Then how is NE so much better at it then?

Dio, you’re embarrassing yourself. And as a Pats fan, you’re embarrassing me.

The answer is The Giants.
The question is 42.

Just ask them. They tape from the stands. Taping from the stands is legal. Taping from the sidelines is not, but I heard Lincoln Kennedy say that every team does that too.

Obviously, they’re not better at it, they got caught.

WOW. Just you and the Pats against the world huh? Pretty pathetic that you point to the officiating when the Pats have been getting most of the calls all season (see Ravens game). Either way, they won those games fair and square (for the most part) and LOST this game the same way. Get over it.

You’re just not cynical enough.

Mr. Rilch and Boss were leaping about and woohooing when the Giants scored. I said, “Yeah, and you also think it’s cool to shoot a ten-point buck. Whereas I think that if a deer has managed to survive long enough to have ten points on its antlers, if it avoided hunters and cars and stayed off private property and didn’t starve to death, it deserves to live. It’s earned it. The Patriots survived for sixteen games; why do you want them to lose?”

Boss: “Because the Giants are that other, younger deer who has the guts to take on the alpha male, find its vulnerable spots and go for it. If the ten-pointer can’t use his antlers to defend itself, then it hasn’t earned it.”

Also, the NY coach approached Belichek during that stampede before the last second of play. Belichek didn’t rebuff him as far as I know.

Not me and the Pats. I’m a Vikings fan. I had no rooting interest in either team tonight. My observations are purely detached and objective.

I just saw this on another board and had to laugh in spite of the major blow tonite…

all kidding aside, all this talk about cheating and karma is just making your win ugly… take the high road already. what the hell, you won. what more do you want.

Edited to add the quote in my sig:

“Our guy keeps a pair of binoculars on their signal-callers every game, with any luck, we have their defensive signals figured out by halftime. Sometimes, by the end of the first quarter” - Mike Shanahan, 2002

For the record: Fuck. Yeah.

People who call the Patriots “cheaters” are just showing their ignorance of the game and of the league. Deciphering signals is routine. Videotaping them for future reference is routine. You’re just not supposed to do it from the sideline. It’s a trivial technical violation that confers no real competitive advantage.

Congrats to Eli & the Giants on a game well played.

The league dispelled my ignorance on the matter by fining the Patriots and taking away one of their draft picks. I guess the league is ignorant of their own rules, eh? How else do you explain the fact that the Patriots were penalized for cheating?

  • Lost the Superbowl!

I’m having a hard time reconciling these two statements.

What’s the reason for the rule in your opinion?
