Beautiful game, best Superbowl I’ve ever seen. The Giants deserved it and anyone whining about the refs should start an IV of class and shut the heck up.
That was unbelievable. I was watching the Giants a lot at the beginning of the season. If you’d told they were the going to win the Super Bowl, I’d have laughed in your face, and then called frineds to come over and laugh in your face, too.
The rush on Brady was terrific. The way to beat the Patriots has always been to keep the ball out of his hands and knock his ass down when you can’t. Everyone knew it, but no one seemed able to do it. The Giants did it. Like the Steelers a couple years ago, they played their best football at the end of the season, and they earned the championship.
Well done, Giants.
The past two Super Bowls have been about getting monkeys off the backs of the Manning brothers. Hope they’re happy.
The Patriots defense played a pretty good game in limiting the Giants to two touchdowns, it’s the Patriot’s offense who played poorly/were dominated which cost them the game. I remember thinking at the beginning of the game that the Pats looked tired and unpracticed. Did anybody notice any signs that Brady’s “injuries” were affecting his play?
Because the league is a bunch of jealous, bitter Patriot haters. Perfectly obvious.
They did it because they had already warned Belichick and he kept doing it anyway. The league was just trying to win a dick measuring contest. It had nothing to do with the Pats gaining any genuine advantage.
He sailed a bunch of deep throws. That’s a prtetty good indication that he couldn’t plant good on his ankle. He’s usually got a laser beam on those rainbows to Moss. I do think his ankle might have been more screwed up than he was letting on. High ankle sprains can really hinder QBs on deep throws.
…except the SUPER BOWL CHAMPION NY GIANTS!!!
The long play in the Giants’ last drive when first Eli somehow didn’t get sacked and then the receiver caught the ball by holding onto his helmet was one of the best, clutchest plays ever. It should be up there with the Montana-Clarke “The Catch”. Wow. Just wow.
Man, Belichick looked dejected. Like Charlie Brown after the spelling bee. I can see him staying in his pitch-black room all day tomorrow. Tom Brady will have to go in and say, “But you know what, coach?..The world didn’t come to an end.”
Reason I have Charlie Brown on the brain, of course, is because of that commercial! I LOVE that for once, the round-headed kid won something!
ETA: Diogenes, WTF are you saying? They only enforced the rules because they’re the rules? And if it’s okay to video signals, just not from the sidelines, then don’t do it from the sidelines.
Since this was the only game I actually watched on TV all season, I just have a quick question:
Is Pam Oliver a robot?
I have to say that one of the most surprising things to me, a Steeler fan, was that Plaxico Burress actually caught the ball in the end zone at a critical moment.
He also was entirely correct that it would be a relatively low scoring game. Of course, Tom Brady had a good laugh, suggesting that predicting the Patriots would score only 17 points was crazy. Tom Brady is a whiny pussy, and the Giants D kicked his ass.
I thought it really sucked that they gave Hoodsie a review of the 12 man on the field play, and that they called it in his favor. I’m just glad that it didn’t make a difference. The Patriots luck ran out, right at the right time, and it was beautiful.
That was an over-the-shoulder Willie Mays catch.
Even as a 49er fan I have to agree with you. About even I’d say. It wasn’t a touchdown, but it kept a TD drive going, and it was in the Superbowl.
Oh, and there’s no “e” in Clark.
YEEEHAH! Giants win!!!
(Actually I’m a Philly fan, but I really wanted to stick it to the Brady Bunch)
I’m not saying it wasn’t against the rules, I’m just saying it wasn’t “cheating” in the sense that it gave them any unfair advantage.
I was lucky enough to catch that play while channel surfing. Unbelievable.
I agree that was the play of the game and one of the best plays at both ends that I can remember seeing in a Superbowl.
I’ve always thought the Montana-Clark play was kind of overrated, though (and that wasn’t even in a Superbowl).
Given the Giants were a distant wildcard spot.
Given the whole de-emphasis on beating the Giants but total emphasis on ‘achieving perfection’.
Given the whole ‘I’m going to stroll around Manhattan in a cast before the game as a goof.’
Given the whole ‘Not only do our teams out-class yours, but our fans out-class yours’ POV of the Herald.
Yeah. That’s a Choke.
Super-size that Karma for you for just 39 cents more…
My girlfriend, in Boston, says she’s not really mad that the Pats lost the game, so much as disappointed that because of it Wes Welker won’t win MVP, because “he’s so cute.”
For you disgruntled Patriots fans (and all other interested parties), I have a silver lining for you.

If she wants to wait until it’s warmer, that’s perfectly OK with me. Of course, if it’s cold out those turkeys will be done better than any ever seen on any Thanksgiving table, so I’m thinking that sometime this week will be good.
