My San Francisco 49ers are going up against the Baltimore Ravens, with the betting line at SF -3.5. Have you heard Ray Lewis is retiring!? Have you heard Colin Kaepernick will only be starting his 10th game? OMG, the two head coaches are brothers!
I’m sooooo glad the game is finally at hand. There have been way too many stupid, distracting stories and controversies.
My thoughts as a completely biased, fan-blinded opinion, I see the 49ers winning big, 31-17. I expect OC Greg Roman to add unseen offensive wrinkles like he has often this postseason. With the Ravens’ linebackers lack of speed, I foresee us spreading things out 4- or 5-wide, and go up-tempo at the beginning. Later on it could go back to the jumbo packages we used early in the year, and run those wham run plays that worked so well against the Lions.
Defensively I see the safeties playing very deep and trust the stellar linebacking corps to take care of the run. I also expect more blitzes than usual (Vic Fangio rarely sends more than four).
I think the 49ers take it, and it won’t be close. I’ve been very impressed with just how versatile the NIners are on offense and just how well they game plan. I think Gore and the O line will have a big game and Kaepernick will be good enough not to lose. I also think the Niners won’t be so incredibly stupid to let Torrey Smith behind them with the game on the line.
The most interesting part to me will be watching the fat guys go head to head. That Niners O line is tremendous and it will be fun watching the Smith brothers go against that Ravens O line.
Here’s hoping Ray Lewis gets hit by a bus carrying deer antlers.
As for these teams, they can pretty much both have a “who can fuck off more” competition. I’ll be slightly less disappointed if the Ravens win, but not by much.
I sure do hope Ray Lewis gets the proper sendoff for the end of his career. He’s a good Christian man who has kids by 4 different women. God’s linebacker. As Jesus said “Turn the other shiv, and rid yourself of bloody suits”. He deserves this.
SF also would reaffirm my preferred view that great coaches can shape and be the core essence of a franchise. The NFL is full of conservative, safe, uninnovative, bland coaches that I love to see someone who’s a real leader and can think on their feet come in and dominate. There are so few interesting NFL coaches.
I’ll say 31-26 San Francisco. I think there might be more offense here than people expect, and what the heck- since I won’t get this right anyway, I’ll give Baltimore a failed two-point attempt.
I’m avoiding most of the pregame hype, but I strongly disagree with the decision to have the students from Newton singing before the game. It is really time to let the kids get back to a normal 1st grade life and performing at the Super Bowl isn’t the way to do that. Also, this has been a year of death in the NFL with the two tragedies of Belcher and Brent. Plus, of course, the murderer Ray Lewis is featured in this game.
The Super Bowl is one day I’d like to get away from politics as well as reminders of horrible tragedies.
When this is over, I hope the Niners fans will be able to say “SIX RINGS, BITCHES!”
Anything, ANYTHING, is better than seeing Murderin’ Ray’s cheesin’ mug all over the place for the foreseeable future. The only place I want to see his mug is behind bars, or in the mugshot roundup where it belongs. Fuck Ray-Ray, fuck Art Modell, and fuck Baltimore.
This year’s Super Bowl is being held in New Orleans. Next year’s is being held in New Jersey.
Man, if I were living anywhere near Glendale, Arizona, I might be a little more concerned than usual about the possibility of a stray hurricane slamming into me sometime in the next two years.
I don’t look to linebackers for spiritual advice, moral guidance, or tabloid gossip. I just like seeing the game played well and my metropolitan area on top once again. Different strokes I suppose.
Like with nearly all sporting events, save maybe the Olympics when a half world away, this will definitely be broadcast life. No tape delay, especially for something so heavily bet.
For the 49ers, starting center Jonathan Goodwin (Saints) and reserve linebacker Clark Haggans (Steelers) both won rings, and WR Randy Moss (Patriots) and kicker David Akers (Eagles) both played but lost. WR Mario Manningham also won one with the Giants, but is on injured reserve.
