Is there any place where I can buy a Super Nintendo controller that is compatible with my PC? I’ve seen XBOX and Nintendo 64 controllers that are for playing games on PCs, and I read online how to make a regular nintendo controller hook up to a PC, but I haven’t been able to find anything for a Super NES controller.
Does anyone know where I can get something like this?
These guys are considering making an adapter. I think you’d have to register for their forums and vote for it as their next project. Other than that, I couldn’t really find any commercial products that either connect an snes pad to your pc or do a decent job of mimicking the entire snes comtroller.
They do make joypads that have the same general layout as an SNES pad, but usually without the start and select buttons. I suppose one of those would do, depending on the types of games you’re looking to play.
You could get a GameCube-compatible Hori controller (it comes in black, too) and then get the PC-to-GC adapter. It’s a little expensive overall and not quite an SNES controller, but it’s close.
i’ve had that controler for a while. it works great. its more of a PS pad, but then again the PS pad is pretty similar to the snes. i wouldnt really recomend trying to find an adapter…alot of them are pretty shoddy
It says the platform is Windows 95 for the Gravis G42021 PC Gamepad Pro (the first one Achernar linked to), so it would work on XP, no? And also, where does it hook up to? I can’t seem to find that anywhere on the site.
That’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for, so thanks for the help everyone!
Hmm, not sure if I’d recommend that sort of gamepad. I’ve got an almost identical one, (not Gravis), and the direction pad is really bad; if you don’t push exactly U, D, L o R then Mario will move around all weirdly.
Who said anything about ROMs (other than Trigonal Planar mentioning Mario, I guess)? Maybe the OP is simply playing a PC video game that would do well with a SNES controller.
Several small businesses actually do make adapters to let you connect a standard SNES controller to a PC serial port. I bought one of these a couple of years back, and I have to say that when it worked, it worked great. I used it on and off for a couple of months, but because of the poor driver support for Win2K (all the drivers are third-party), I gave it to a friend who uses Windows XP. He’s been using it ever since and apparently it works like a charm. Now that I’ve switched to XP, I’ve been meaning to ask for it back…
