Anyone remember the SNES?

Recently my loving SO offered to get me a used SNES so I can play my favorite game(Final Fantasy 3). Now, I had a specialty controller. It was a touch pad, that I believe used body heat in some way, instead of the normal directional pad.

However, I cannot find this controller anywhere, and while I realize that I shouldn’t expect to find a reference to it(especially since I cannot remember what it was called) I figured some SNES enthusiast would have mentioned it somewhere.

If anyone had the controller, or can find a link to it, I would appreciate it oh so much.

I remember it too, but I don’t know what it was called. I didn’t think it used body heat, I thought it was just a pressure pad, barely more technologically advanced that your everyday directional pad.

I still have my SNES. Super Mario Kart still sees more playing time than most of my PS1 and Dreamcast games. Except Soul Calibur.

Hey, if you just want to play the game and don’t want to hassle with the console, it’s very easy to download a SNES emulator (and, mods, it’s legal). I just deleted some advice about how to go about getting that organized just in case the mods don’t like it. Feel free to email me, although it’s all very easily found online.

The reason I thought it was heat is because when my thumbnail got too long, no matter how I pressed the direction, if there was no physical contact with the skin, it wouldn’t work. It irritated me no end, because my nails grow fast.

I never heard of the controller. Sounds neat. I too have a working SNES. I think I have a working NES, but I don’t know where it is.

What I REALLY want is an Atari, with a pile of games, so I can relive early childhood.

Is this it?

Aw man, that was an awesome system.

That type, yes, for the SNES. And thank you so much.

I found it! Thanks all, especailly KneadToKnow for finding the name.

I miss mine. The thing I remember most was how you went about modifyingit to play Japanese games. Basically the US version had a little plastic nub inside that would prevent Japanese cartridges from going in so you just opened the door, took out a knife and hacked away.

Great fun.

Did you know they made FF IV for the Playstation? Reviews. I’m fairly sure that’s the one you’re talking about. Boy the differances in the Japanese and American numbering system are annoying.

US FF3 is Japanes FF 6

But thanks for the link

Not really relavent, but the OP made me think of it…

YES I remember the SNI have never yet played a game that I loved so much as the SNES version of Legend of Zelda, man that was good…misty eyes

OK I’m all done now.

The SNI?

That should read …I remember the SNES, I have never…

lol and THIS is the preview button, and THIS is your foot, and THIS is what you stepped in… :smack:

Remember it? Hell, baby, it’s the only game system I have. It barely works any more, sitting at home all by it’s lonesome… but hey, that’s what the emulator’s for…

The problem with all these new console systems and most PC games today is the damn three dimensions. It screws with my head, seriously. I have so much trouble trying to play this stuff. Give me a good old overhead view running-around adventure SNES Squaresoft RPG any day. FF2 and FF3 are lurvely, as are Lufia and Lufia II (which may or may not be Squaresoft, I don’t remember), and the ever-fabulous Secret of Mana. And whoever translated the Seiken Densetsu 3 Rom into English deserves oral sex, at the very least. These damn 3-D games make me ill. Literally. I sat down and tried to play Myst III a few weeks ago, after about 15 minutes I was nauseous and had a splitting headache.

Yessirree bob, gimme a good ol’ SNES any day.

People still remember the Commodore 64, plenty more remember the SNES. After all, it’s heyday was a mere 10 years ago (Oh my god, has it been 10 years since I was playing Street Fighter 2 and Zelda: A Link to the Past?) The SNES was/is one of the best systems for RPGs, and FF3 has my vote for best RPG ever. The graphics they achieved for that game on that piddly 16 bit processor are nothing short of amazing.

I was playing Super marioland today on a SNES, there’s one in my senior lounge. I play it every day at lunch. Gotta love the old games…

It was the pinnacle of console systems. Videogames died when it died. Now they’re all just about special FX.

Oh, man, Super Nintendo. Game Players magazine.

Super Mario World. FF3. Music was amazing on that.
